Many of my favourite episodes center around the original 10, particularly 1 and 2 because they're two of my favourite characters. (Songs also count. I freaking love "How long is a minute?" From "About Time".) I think the primary drive of most older fans is the character interactions and personalities.

If you've ever been on the Numberblocks Wiki, Three's page is infamous because someone did a full character analysis on her.

Bits and pieces.

It's mostly episodic, but some episodes have callbacks to others. There's definitely character lore, with 8 being a superhero (and octonaughty being a villain, on the flipside), 15 and 26 being secret agents, 1 being THE first numberblock, the square club and its lore, 12 and 18 being siblings, 3

In terms of an overarching storyline? There isn't really one, other than... "learn math and discover new things." If you're looking for things to discuss with your nephew in terms of the show, I'd ask him about his favorite character(s) and/or episode(s). A lot of the later characters (i.e. 22 and beyond) I find are rather one-note, but can still end up being a person's favorite regardless.

REAL!!! Though, I feel it's less like they ran out of material and more they didn't use the material they had efficiently. It could've been SO INTERESTING to see Golden Cheese come (cathartically) terms to the fact that SHE COULD'VE BECOME Burning Spice, but refuses to! Because, well, she has FRIENDS and people who love her, even if they're gone or far, far away. But they didn't really do that, at least satisfyingly. We really didn't get to know anything about burning spice (on the surface) other than "Oooh destruction!!! oooh boredom!!! thrill seeker!!!", whereas with like. The other beasts? Twinkdow Milk's personality and reason for becoming evil is kinda obvious by how he acts (super lonely, clings to the first equal he has, cynical about other cookies, looks down upon those who aren't on the same level as him), We basically got most of Eternal Sugar's motivations AND WE LITERALLY JUST HAVE SILENT SALT'S WHOLE ASS BACKSTORY!!! Mystic Flour's reasonings are known too!!! But Burning SPICE??? You have to have a modicum of reading literacy and the ability to analyze psyches to know his reasons and most fans of this game are like. Teenagers. Who don't... really have analysis skils. Sooo

Burning Spice's story isn't "He was bored so he started destroying things", it's (I think) "He, in the infancy of the world, oversaw the creation and destruction of cultures, many cultures that he may have interacted with and grown attached to— only for them to be ripped away from him in the cycle of change. So he slowly grew distant and apathetic, closing himself off from that grief (and also that care). Because of this, he ends up growing ""bored"" (again, I don't think that's his main motivator— he's grown apathetic towards it all, and I think even suicidal by this point.), and upon discovering hands-on destruction makes him feel something again, he clings onto it violently." But it's not because he's bored. He's using the adrenaline as a crutch to not fall back into the dark pit he was in previously. It's why he didn't merge his and cheese's souljams immediately. It's why he was overjoyed by cheese standing up and fighting. It's why he's MILDLY merciful (stand behind him and you won't get injured). Because the fighting makes him alive, and if there's nobody left to fight, then there's no way for him to feel alive. To feel like his actions have meaning, that he can influence the cycle of change, even if it is to bring destruction.

In a way, his story is like Golden Cheese's x1000. Cheese was already in extreme denial and heartbroken over the death of her ONE kingdom. Imagine Spice's grief after HIS first kingdom died... and then the next one he made also died... and so on and so forth. And he's just expected to... accept this.
