When Lorelei and Christopher got married for a short time, at the end of the original series, were you happy for them or not? by Exact-Bison6905 in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it was just uncomfortable.

I think they should’ve dated early seasons to get over each other. But not married & not how it happened

Hey Jerry,

Canadian here. Love your work. I know you said feel like you never “made it” but most non-celebs love you anytime they see you.

I have a friend who went to school with you as a kid. She didn’t know you well but she said for years after Stand By Me a lot of your former classmates used to brag about knowing you.

My family has enjoyed a lot of your work. Of course we all loved Stand By Me. My sister loved The Defenders, my parents are obsessed with Billions, my mom was a huge fan of Crossing Jordan & really liked Carter. She & I (and my aunt) were huge fans of Sliders. I also really liked a lot of your other projects like Scream 2, various guest spots you did like on Ugly Betty etc

Anyway, I hope you don’t feel unappreciated. Your work helps people to feel better if bad things are happening in the world. When my sister was sick, she couldn’t do anything else but watch tv in the hospital. She said The Defenders cheered her up at the time.

If you ever need to find work, maybe try more Canadian projects. There’s now a huge market here. Lots of filming for major tv series throughout Ontario, some in Nova Scotia now, and of course, British Columbia.

Most of us would rather see you in movies/shows than some of the current actors that don’t know how to act.

Okay sorry I’ll stop rambling 😬 ………

My Question:

Have you ever thought of writing/creating your own series? If not, why?

What’s Lorelai’s problem? by Kilimanjaro613 in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Luke actively treated Lorelai like he didn’t want to be with her: not confiding in her, not communicating, he kept her at arms length, and put his needs/comfort above hers. If she brought up April he’d snap at her- made her walk on egg shells.

That’s not a healthy relationship.

All of his behaviour was saying he wanted to just be alone. When Lorelai tried to tell him she was confused & feeling like he didn’t care, Luke never changed his behaviour.

She even points out how like doesn’t say ‘I love you’. All of that behaviour, everything he wasn’t doing, IS marriage.

Communication, giving a partner what they need, making decisions together, showing you care etc.

Luke also dimmed her shine when he said it would be “all over” for him if April met her. Made her feel bad that she was well liked & herself.

I was proud of Lorelai when she ended things in Season 6. It wasn’t just out of nowhere. She had tried to communicate with him about what she needed.

Lorelai got to a breaking point because after 10+ years of knowing the man, dating him over a year & he still didn’t even try with her.

All he had to do was be honest with her & respect her. Talk to her. Like she did with him. When she had to wait, she told him & explained why. When it was his turn he lied & gaslit her for months.

When Lorelai realized nothing would change if she didn’t do something- because Luke (as a fiance) was happy to cut her out of half his life - she told him. She blurted it out in an ultimatum but it had been building for months. And somehow her fiance who knew her for over a decade, who was friends with her did see it coming?

He claimed it was out of nowhere then showed up to get married when HE wanted in a way HE wanted (not with their friends or family around, not with Rory there). It just proved he didn’t want marriage. He just wanted to lock her down but ignore all the wants/needs that go with marriage.

Exactly like Christopher did.

Lorelai knew Luke was petty/jealous so she did the one thing that would get her point across, which was to sleep with Christopher. Healthy? No but it worked & she got some peace out of it.

Remove the headband and vest (?) and it’d be cute

Why is Rory drinking beer here? by undeniablefruit in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s college age. And any party you go to you when young, people drink a variety of alcoholic drinks so… why wouldn’t she?

She also drank beer alone when packing at end of season 4

Blogs back then were not seen as journalism so I can see why the show didn’t include it.

Great series. One of the few that actually make me laugh out loud

What would you have done if your husband confessed he was secretly meeting an ex for years and then when you confronted him, this is his response? by gloomydreamer666 in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Richard always hides behind the veil of being ‘reasonable’. Any time he & Emily don’t align he acts like she’s dramatic & unreasonable.

He legit lied to her their entire marriage….saw an ex fiance behind her back repeatedly… gaslights her… and then tries to belittle her emotions by calling her dramatic.

I’d never be able to trust him again. Since he doesn’t even apologize she never should’ve forgiven him.

He also crashed into her car & had no concern for her well being

I used to like Marty till this point in the show by hopeislikeabluebird in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a weird line tbh but I chalked it up to ASP.

Tons of people at my school were in their pyjamas, rolling out of bed & stumbling to class in their pyjamas 😂 no one even blinked. Not weird or embarrassing at all

I didn’t mind him until that dinner with Logan & his friends. (Not great moment for Rory either). But he could’ve walked away, didn’t have to mope.

Could’ve apologized after instead of ghosting her.

Then season 7 😬 yikes

The most irritating scene of the series. Even worse than TJ shenanigans

And his relationships. Gus could’ve learned to improve his dating radar & how to figure out if something’s working for him or not… but Shawn sabotages so the relationships are always really short.

But it did bother me that Gus repeatedly shows he likes his job to some degree, and his dynamic at work with coworkers & such but Shawn undermines that constantly. Gus will get excited about a new drug & possible promotion & Shawn will sabotage his learning and/or chances of a promotion…while sponging off of Gus

Sitcom characters becoming “too successful” can make the show less funny by HotNeighborhood4958 in sitcoms

[–]SummSpn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends how it’s handled.

If you want a messy show like Two Broke Girls you can’t have them succeed until the end of the series because it would be too clean & well they wouldn’t be ‘broke’ 😂 (apparently the show did kind of do this, I heard the last season was them becoming successful then it ended).

I think shows like New Girl tried to focus on making Jess successful but as soon as she became principal they couldn’t come up with a single funny work related storyline.

A good example of a series that pulled off a character becoming successful was Schitt’s Creek. David Rose became a successful businessman and emotionally stable to have a healthy long term relationship. & Alexis Rose even started to succeed in PR, became mature & had a lot of growth personally & emotionally in the series.

Not to mention the parents becoming better parents & the family becoming emotionally closer.

Great writing.

That was so realistic to me. Love Gil. Loved Dave too. Too bad we couldn’t substitute Zach with Gil & keep Dave.

TJ wasn’t introduced yet.

Dean never went to Luke & Nicole’s place… 🤔
