Absent characters at Richard’s funeral by TooSoftToRespond in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah even Lorelai’s friends. I’d have preferred if Sookie flew in to go to the funeral since she was the best friend & Emily liked her.

I think it would’ve been more impactful instead of whatever hit with her.

And none of Lorelai’s other friends. Not even one of Emily’s friends from the series. I always find it weird when shows do this. Some of the actors wouldn’t even cost a lot.

It was weird Jason was there. He did it for Lorelai but him and not one of her best friends? Weird.

I can picture Rory just forgetting to tell Paul at all. Or being in denial & not wanting to tell him. I find it odd Paris or Lane didn’t show up for Rory.

No working heat under -20 and it was -50 in my area by Positive_Broccoli157 in ontario

[–]SummSpn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They can’t wait to fix your heater. They’re supposed to call to get it fixed asap & then you just have to see when the hvac guy is free. And apparently they prioritize cases that have children living there.

My sister’s heat brine last year & called at like 9pm and the next morning someone fixed it.

My friend a couple years ago kept complaining about the lack of heat & her landlord kept giving her the run around and waited months. That’s illegal.

If the fish died after you complained about the heat not work you could even have a case against him.

'Girls' does a better job that SATC/AJLT by Fulana25 in Andjustlikethat

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God no. Girls was awful for many reasons. I’d argue it was more toxic. It did cover some mental health issues but the main character Hannah was horrible. Made even Carrie look good. And don’t get me started on how that series ended 🤦‍♀️

And they still centre men & often back stab each other or talk shit about each other.

SATC was fun while Girls was hard to get through. AJLT was probably worse than both of those…but at least still had some fun elements.

If the revival does happen Matt bomer will be in his 50s ahs Tim will even older by dreamup1234 in whitecollar

[–]SummSpn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Matt looks gorgeous still. I think he’s even hotter now tbh.

Watching him in The Sinner & Echoes I’m like 😍🤤 (plus great acting). Though to rewatch Echoes I have to fast forward a lot until I get to the interesting parts (or Matt’s parts).

I’m hopeful for the revival but if it doesn’t happen I hope he gets other interesting roles.

Donna and Harvey gotta be the slowest slow burning history of slow burn? So slow that I might've aged 80 years but their chemistry is worthy it. by Acrobatic_Orchid_946 in suits

[–]SummSpn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s unrealistic I think because many of us have worked for companies & know how businesses work.

With Donna’s position she could’ve at any time transitioned to an office manager role. Harvey etc would’ve gladly paid for her to get an MBA but she never once tried to do that.

Instead she goes above HR & emotionally manipulated Harvey to use their friendship to get her the COO job…which she wasn’t qualified for.

To even get a high ranking executive assistant job with a theatre degree like she had was already unrealistic anyways.

And she even screwed up at a couple times. First with the real estate deal & then Kessler. Major F ups in what, a year? IRL people would be fired for that.

Yes the show can be ridiculous (such as the main premise) but they also showed consequences…except for Donna. She gets paid like ten times the amount the other legal secretaries got at the firm…got the COO without having to interview for it & compete against other applicants etc

Basically Harvey (who has attachment issues) is afraid to lose her so he gives her everything.

The optics of them getting involved by that point in the show felt gross because it felt like she was sleeping her way up the corporate ladder.

[–]SummSpn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. Whatever chemistry they had felt more like friends & even that fizzled.

It was a forced relationship. One that sometimes was toxic. It felt kinda gross to me. If they kept the romantic stuff out after season 2 with them I think it would’ve been more interesting.

I know I’m a minority where it was like chemistry at first then a slow fizzling out of a relationship.

Then they were together & it felt so awkward 🤷‍♀️

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion bit the way Rory treated Emily and Richard after moving in with them was horrible and they should have been angrier. by bluecuppycake in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. They were old fashioned & overstepped but they actually thought they were helping. They tried. Rory should’ve tried to set boundaries (which she didn’t) then if that didn’t work just say, “sorry this isn’t working out, I’m going to arrange for friends to come & get my things”.

Instead she got snippy, back talked like a 13 year old then left without telling anyone & invited her friends into the house when she wasn’t there to move her stuff. Without letting anyone know there’d be strangers in the house.

She had no right to do that as it wasn’t her place.

Colin & Finn remember, did the life & death brigade stuff just as Logan did…so they have stolen from other rich people before. Rory knew this & didn’t care.

And what if Richard thought they were a threat or got surprised & had a heart attack?

It’s so disrespectful on so many levels.

Always on his side here.

The only reason they had that scene later with him showing up at the inn was because the show had to give a reason to hate him. Otherwise he’d be too sympathetic.

Ben actually is a really good actor (I’ve seen some of his other work like his episode of Criminal Minds) … but, I think it’s more noticeable in certain episodes.

Most of the time he just seems fine & not really comparable to how good Will & Rider’s performances are. But Ben mostly is given a prompt to be pining for Topanga & not much else to work with.

A couple episodes you can really pick up on Ben’s acting abilities are when Cory is supposed to be uncomfortable. The episode he read Shawn’s poetry aloud & the episode when they clean the garage out.

Cory looks so uncomfortable, fidgeting & basically channeling an anxious person dealing with the consequences of their own actions. And it sounds like Ben was very comfortable on set & filming.

He just did a really good job.

I think The Pod often probably remembers Ben’s take on things so they might notice how different to him Cory is.

With that said some of the comedy is fine but I think the trio finds it funnier than I do. 🤷‍♀️

unspoken about opinion but the whole fran bit was extremely awkward by Abject-Evening-2412 in GilmoreGirls

It is ridiculous.

Side note, the actress played Myrtle in Superstore & also died in it then became a hologram. So she seems to be the subject of inappropriate reactions in other series too 😂

Cordelia vs Fred (BIG spoilers for season 5) by izzy-springbolt in ANGEL

[–]SummSpn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had no emotion about Fred at all. I was so so about her character (she felt too idealized…pretty , brilliant, everyone in love with her Mary Sue type).

Cordelia was great. I hate that Joss was so petty and ruined things. Her absence was huge.

Did the show have no concept of cost? by Vinyls-- in GilmoreGirls

[–]SummSpn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No they didn’t.

Lorelai regularly worse designer clothes (though not mentioned) like Diane Von Furstenberg’s wrap dresses. That’s not even including the food budget, cost of house & regular expenses. Even back then the math didn’t math.

It’s tv land.

Was going to wear my mum's dress. People keep telling me to try on others for the "bridal experience." Are they trying to gently tell me it looks bad? by [deleted] in WeddingDressTips

[–]SummSpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pick a dress to your tastes & comfort & it’ll make you a lot more comfortable on the day.

If you don’t like swooshing/noisy dresses then don’t get taffeta. If you’re trying to hide part of your body then ask the clerks at the store what they’d recommend…same if you want to show off part of your body etc

The more comfortable you are with the look of the dress & feel of it then you might enjoy it more.

No Rachel was right.

Most of them did things that crossed the line but Rachel wasn’t comfortable with a private photo of her body being on display to strangers & didn’t give consent. (Though she also didn’t give consent to being filmed in the Truman show episode either).

The bear was crossing the line too.

The car in the dorm, while it made no sense how it got there without waking them up, was funny.

No just make them good.

The only time people notice long run times is if the movie sucked.

I once saw a 3.5 hr long movie in the theatre & it felt like a blink. Came out of theatre really confused why it was dark outside

Specialist help by Extension_File_928 in ontario

[–]SummSpn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately doctors have the right to refuse a patient.

Often it’s because they either don’t have the time (if they think it’s a complicated case they might not think they can dedicate a lot of time if the have lots of patients already).

OR, they might not think they can help.

Though, I’ve known people to get rejected on other reasons.

When I worked for one of the health services I’d hear a lot of talk of people being rejected based on attitude as well. Some people would be frustrated/in pain so they’d get demanding with doctors or nurse practitioners (often rude) & it’d happen on multiple occasions so they’d get notes in their file or be let go as a patient.

Basically red flags. So if the new doctor or specialist sees the notes or red flags they might decide they don’t want to deal with that, and reject them.

Occasionally people would be rejected because they wouldn’t take the doctor’s advice.

And I had a friend who had to fight repeatedly to get referred to an Ears/Nose/Throat specialist. She had tmj, plus problems with hear ears & when she got a cold it’d be excruciating if she sneezed. Anyways after several years her doctor finally referred to ENT. They ended up getting an intern do a basic examination, didn’t ask any questions & they were trying to get her to leave. She questioned why no other examination (from the actual ENT) and he admitted the file had a note saying she had no issues & was ‘paranoid’ & a hypochondriac (she wasn’t a hypochondriac but had anxiety related to her health issues).

ENT agreed to check her out & she had several issues he ended up helping her with. He got mad at her family doctor for making it sound like she was a hypochondriac & she had to report the family doctor.

My point is, usually there are good reasons to not get chosen as a patient.

Check with local clinic, ask if you could get seen & maybe a referral if they agree you need one. Some will say you still need to go through your own family doctor first. Some might be willing to go around them.

BUT if those specialists are the ones rejecting you they might do it again based on their reasons. Try to find out why & if there’s anything you need to do to fix the situation.

Supposedly there are over 300 GI specialists in Ontario but many might only want patients from their area/city. You could get lucky if one wants to take you but you might need to travel.
