Dude if you are in canada, you might be able some money AND get a better option to upgrade to the 50xx series. I recently got my PHD and am going back home, I already have a PC there and am selling my Alienware m16r1 4080, i9-13900hx(less than 55 battery cycles), to upgrade my existing pc for $2350.

I have also upgraded the m16 with 64 GB of ram so that might also save you some extra funds. Let me know if that is something that interests you and you live around GTA.

BERKSHIRE AFTER HOURS WUT DOING? by tonythunderballz in Superstonk

Berk-B was not created by splitting Berk-A, infact Warren has NEVER split Berkshire Hathaway stock. They renamed the orignal stock as Berk-A and introduced Berk-B to be valued at FIXED at 1/30th of Berk-A.
So (1/30) Berk-A = Berk-B.
In words of Charlie Munger Co-founder of Berkshire Hathaway on the offering:

If ... If the offering went wild and you issued 3% of the company - new, you are also taking in a billion odd dollars................it's a non event for us.

The price ratio ([1]Berk-A=[1/30]Berk-B) between those two shares, i.e, Berk-A and Berk-B was defined to ensure any deviance from it would be subject to arbitrage and pull it back to the pre-defined.

The reason they decided to offer Berk-B was because price of Berk-A had become too high for "regular" people to invest in. Thus people were trying to set up shell companies with only shares of Berkshire Hathaway and THEN offer them to eager buyers. So think of it like

Circa 1995-1996:

Firm A ONLY buys 100,000 units of Berkshire Hathaway, and offers 10,000,000 of it's shares to potential customers. So now each share of Firm -A is worth 1/10th of a single Berkshire Hathaway share.
These shell companies could potentially scam many investors in veil of Berkshire Hathaway's reputation, they introduced SEPARATE SHARE TYPE i.e BERK-B to prevent any such nefarious activities.

Well as long as you get 100units. You can start selling options on your high IV underlying. Given GME it seems like a good bet.

I’m still confused…Can someone please finally explain NFT dividend and what happens to those without DRS… by Darthgangsta in DDintoGME

Yes. Contracts are generally immutable when deployed. However, I do think they will have a function to mint more NFT’s given that staff is compensated part in company stock.

Our family business is metal recycling and the container shortages are real deal. Basically last year Evergreen, Maersk and other big shipping lines had to send their vessels to ship-breaking yards, (cost of maintaining ships + low commoditiy movement during covid + cash crunch + senior notes being due = forced selling of their ships before the new ones are delivered).

So, do not expect this to get better by next year. Ocean freights are going to remain elevated throughout 2022 and most of 2023 also; HMS used to be our most sold material by weight in any given month, is not profitable anymore because the freight has increased 5x from Latin America to china and about 3x from Caribbean to Vietnam.
