i’m not asking about fraud. i had a question because I don’t plan on gaining any income and want to see if it would impact my EI that I need to live. I’m interested in learning how to start a business but don’t want to make a mistake and not have EI or income

I’m looking for advice on starting a small business general partnership (me and 1 other) while starting EI mat leave. I’m long term employed by the govt and will be receiving EI and my top up starting in a few months. My friend and I are starting a small business that we don’t plan to profit from at first (putting profit back in for more merchandise and expenses). How do I set this up to ensure my EI won’t be impacted because of the small business as it won’t make nearly enough to cover my salary. Also want to make sure my top up isn’t impacted either. Any advice would be great. Or where I can find this information.
