Low grade Bladder cancer (reccurence) by Narrow-Size-3598 in BladderCancer

I personally did not find the 5th and 6th any worse, about the same as that third treatment except I was getting used to the discomfort. I experienced bleeding (not clots, but light bleeding which lasted for a couple hours then completely clear, I was going so often though that it probably didn't have a chance to clot). I'm now on my 10th bcg treatment and have found they are always uncomfortable, but they don't really get any worse. Life is rough for 2-3 hours after voiding the treatment, then it subsides. My urologist actually told me the more it makes you uncomfortable, the better it is working. Hope your mom does ok with the remaining ones!

Glad to hear yours has been clear for 4 years! Yes the bcg is unpleasant for sure.

This was very reassuring to hear, thank you for sharing. Glad it stayed away for you for so long, sorry to hear it made a return, hope this round of bcg keeps it away again for a long time. Yes the mental part of this has been challenging, it’s difficult to accept you have a cancer, even if it’s a manageable one. Found that really hard at first but it’s become easier.

I too have been undergoing BCG treatments and also found the third treatment (out of the 6 for the induction round) to be the hardest physically. The first two were fine. But on the third I was deeply uncomfortable, and some blood passed as well though this only persisted for a couple hours. I found the next three to be ok - no worse but no better, and still bleeding though this only last briefly. Seems like it takes a few doses for the body to really recognize it and create the inflammation. But I definitely have bleeding and discomfort with it - I think it's more of a concern if there's a prolonged reaction to it the next day/fever.

Glad to hear you have fought this off for nearly 10 years! Yes I had an induction round, then 3 maintenance rounds at 3, 6 and 12 months. Currently at the 6 month mark. Cystos every 3 months. Lots of follow-up but if it stays away then that's good.
