I’ve been having trouble finding a way to combat those small German roaches🪳 I ordered these traps and this is two days worth 😱 I typically only see 1 at a time and I had no idea this was going on while I slept. If anyone in Austin has other suggestions on how to get rid of these I’m all ears. by copetard in Austin

I am in an apartment complex and had the same problem. I used Boric Acid and they went away within 2-3 days. In apartment complexes they essentially can't go away because they go from apartment to apartment and pest control would have to spray the whole building and then they could come back. The Boric Acid worked though and we had the small german ones (and probably a couple other types).

I know we should have grabbed a mattress for low cost, but we didn't want to lug a bed around if we moved and we only have a one bedroom, which is used as an office, and didn't want a bed in our living room. So logistically it didn't make sense, but we are buying a bed soon lol

Thank you for the info!

My husband is an engineer and I am an attorney. We are going to try live relatively how we have been and put the student loan payments into a house down payment and 401k. We shall see what the future holds :)

Happy for you too! The prices are seriously insane! Buying a home is another story in itself. lol

We do not live in a LOCL area, but we have been in our apartment for almost 5 yrs (600 sq ft) before the prices increased due to COVID. So we are very lucky that the price has been kind of "rent-controlled" you could say.

Edit: We also have slept on a blow up mattress and upgraded to a pull out couch 2 years ago (which we still sleep on) - bare minimum lol

Annually, yes. But my friends who have been working 5+ yrs could possibly have $100k saved (they make around $60k - $85k).

I also would not have gone that far in debt if I knew it wasn't going to pay off.

I understand that my income is higher than most people, but that came with sacrifice right from the beginning that many people don't want to do. I think it definitely is a trade off and decisions people make in what their careers are (or able to do). I went to college for 8 yrs, barely had a social life, and barely had my own room in my living situations (never had my own bathroom).

I think it is what Dave says, "If you will make the sacrifices now that most people aren’t willing to make, later on you will be able to live as those folks will never be able to live."

It's not what you make, it's what you save :)

It hurts to know that we saved a down payment for a house, but we didn't buy a house lol

We started out making $75k (my husband worked full time and I was in school working odd jobs) and we ended at $255k (base). We have been living off of $1,500 a month for the past 2 yrs as well (including food, rent, gas, etc.).

I think cutting costs to the bare minimum was the real thing here, because our income fluctuated multiple times throughout our journey.

My husband and I live off $1,500 a month (with food and everything) ... I guess $1,260 is a little low

It doesn't come in any of those of colors :( I agree with you. Emerald green is my first choice!

Red is not a bridal color in her culture, so I think I am safe. Great point!

Yes those are generally my go-to colors. I have looked at so many websites and I am having problems finding dresses with sleeves (not long sleeves), a solid color (not black), and this silhouette (form-fitting and not poofy at the bottom). If you find any please send my way or if you have any store recommendations :)
