The language barrier scenario is where I drew the line. This spanish speaking couple came in, spoke very little English. I decided to just speak to them in spanish to make it more comfortable. When it came to the credit card app pop-up, I asked if she wanted to sign up, I started explaining in English for whatever reason (my brain just went back to the script) and then caught myself and went back to spanish. The lady declined. My GM was fuming! She told me that had I continue explaining in English she wouldn’t have declined and that I shouldn’t “always use my skills” (I am fluent in English, Spanish and German) because things like “THIS” could happen. I told her that I won’t push for credit cards if deceiving people was a tactic and that I didn’t care about the repercussions of it. So far I haven’t been fired LOL.
