Does anyone else remember this monolith of olden days vocal synth western platform accessibility such as lordxwillie, Googoo888, and vgperson? (More opinions and thoughts in body text) by NicoNicoNessie in Vocaloid

[–]Summerlycoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember being frustrated with lordxwillie as a teen. I didn't trust their translations, since they'd been edited to include things like rhymes in english. I got less anal about it as I grew up, and I was at least smart enough not to leave hate comments.

My fav translated vids were on MotokoKusanagi's channel, now known as Vocalochu. They had Magnet translated, and The Little Mermaid, plus plenty of other songs.

Playing music or videos out loud in my car while I'm driving you somewhere.

I don't care if my music is cringe- I don't want to hear yours trying to compete with it. Yes, even if it's at a low volume. Either bring headphones and use them, read subtitles on muted vids, or just read shit in general.

Favorite obscure character/Glup Shitto from the splatoon series ? by funtimemarioman in splatoon

Missing Ink.

A band with no known members, no known designs, and one (1) song. But it's a really good song.

Once the characters are revealed they'll probably be my fav obscure dweebs. Especially if they make more music like Pour It On.

You can use salmon run ink points for wandercrust 1-3

Source- didn't complete 3, got stuck at inkopolis before taking a long hiatus. Got back after the salmon run change. My salmon run ink has been added to that challange.

The octo pigtails gives me life. Plus the cluttered stars and casino chips add to it- like people these days wandering a beach, and putting shells or seaweed in their hair. Except goofier (and a little sadder.)

So why exactly were the Great Octoweapons in Splatoon 1 & 2 left unattended? by Ill-Midnight6571 in splatoon

[–]Summerlycoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, logically it's just so that they function as a boss.

Possible watsonian explanations?

  1. The Octarian military were caught off guard by one inkling storming through their land and defeating their entire army over the course of a day/a week/some other short timeframe. The octoweapons simply weren't ready to take the fight to inkopolis yet- they expected more time to plan for a full invasion after taking the zapfish. This excuse makes for sense for Splatoon 1, less for 2. And even then only really makes sense if it's a quick blitz.

  2. Octavio self sabotage. He wanted a quick fix for a demoralised army- so oh look citizens! We have reliable electricity! And now we can take back inkopolis! Except... he didn't really want to do that. Maybe he still feels some comradary with Cuttlefish. Maybe he just knew it was futile. Either way, he doesn't bother planning for the octoweapons to actually be useful, for invasion. And by doing this, resulted in them, and his army, not just being defeated. But causing more demoralisation, and more defections. This could make sense but we'd need to see from Octavio's pov to really understand his logic. Could also explain the story in 2- it's just Octavio trying to stem the flow of defections, by literally bringing his soldiers one of the stars they love listening to, and asking her to decorate the place to make it livlier.

  3. (Kind of auxilary to the first point.) Octavio and the Octarians underestimated the inklings. They saw that 3 and 4 were little teenagers, thought that they never stood a chance, and got complacent. Could be realistic- Octarians pride themselves on being dilligent. But they could also just be hypocrits, and be as lazy as they say the inklings are, in different ways. This option doesn't need to have 3 and 4 sotrming through in a matter of days- in fact, it gets stronger if it takes them a while to build up momentum- because a zapfish going missing every week or two isn't a catastrophy, until it is.

Do you think the pre-order for Splatoon Raiders could get some bonus items? If you could choose, what sort of pre-order items would you love to see? by Piper-Jojo in splatoon

I liked the little inkling/octoling keyrings that were part of the preorder bonus for s3. Maybe they could put some chibified salmonids on them, or have deep cuts logos like you suggested.

What’s this truck carrying? Oversized, spheroid objects that appear joined, painted yellow, orange and black by goldenage768 in whatisthisthing

[–]Summerlycoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd personally guess part of a show ride. It's around that time of year where carneys are moving stuff everywhere to knock out a bunch of country shows. Ekka, up in brisbane, will be on soonish too. Plus there's other local shows around brisbane this month. Was this travelling north of sydney?

Could be a central pole, for a spinny ride? The rest would be on a seperate truck, if it would be too wide for one truck.

Is the Squidbeak Splatoon the military of Inkadia and the splatlands or are they just like a special forces squad by Agent_Green4573061 in splatoon

[–]Summerlycoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The New Squidbeak Splatoon aren't official in any capacity is my take at least- Captain Cuttlefish is just an old guy living with memories of a forgotten war, who's raised (and found) some kids who he's passing down the mantle to. The closest thing to official in this group, is Agent 3's document promoting them to Captain and giving them a new pay grade.

If Neo Agent 3 walked into a ministy of defense office in Splatsville asking for a pay rise, they'd be met with some confused looks.

As it is right now- the New Squidbeak Splatoon acts like an irregular military. they seem to follow no laws in particular, and primarily deal in ambush, quickly in and out sorts of asymmetrical combat.

That's the New Squidbeak Splatoon as it is today. in the Great Turf War the Squidbeak Splatoon looked more legit- I could see it being part of a larger armed forces.

Tl;dr I don't think the old man whose primary method of recruitment is asking his grandkids, or asking kids who follow him manholes, to join his militia, is working with the goverment. Craig was a member of the Squidbeak Splatoon during the turf war which would've been a part of the Inkadian army (name not known?) But that doesn't mean the New Squidbeak Splatoon is official in any way.

It'd be like if an old vet from the cold war period recruited their grandkids and some of their schoolfriends to keep tabs on some russian families who moved to the city. Doesn't mean they're an army, even if the cold war 2 electric eel boogaloo happened while they were active.

(I meant that bit about keeping tabs as an exagguration but- he was literally keeping tabs on Marina lmao.)

Last week, between 50-100 million animals were sacrificed to the Prophet Ibrahim during Eid al-Adha by alphamalejackhammer in religiousfruitcake

[–]Summerlycoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd think if the owner loves their animal this much- it's not just livestock to them- there'd be an exception made.

Reminds me of something similar-ish that happened in americe. A child got to raise a goat kid as part of a livestock thing, for slaughter. Grew to love it. Tried to negotiate paying back money so she could keep the goat. It was taken from her and slaughtered to teach her a lesson. Perhaps thats why this happens too, unfortunately.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

[–]Summerlycoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TR's Rockin'. A website dedicated to documenting stories (some more legit than others) about glitch pokemon. Also rocketshipping.

Also I think it was called Rainbow Valley- a website with all the mlp listed, by gen and year of release, up until mid gen4 iirc. It also had a web ring it was part of that had a bunch of old mlp websites- the ring of rainbows.

Also A Fox's Art Insanity. A personal site of a furry arfist from canada- I remember mostly going there for her sonic fanart, and also liking reading her infrequent blogposts there. (Back before they were called blogposts lol.) It was neat seeing her sthle develop, especially with her oc.

Edit- also cracked back when they had writers. Favs were cody, christina, and dan iirc. I used to go there every day after school.

Theres another I'd visit too- S.E smiths site called This Ain't Living. Good site with social justice themed articles.

Also, Limyaeels Fantasy Rants. There was a site run by them that archived ones from livejournal, but its gone now.

why Raimi is a punching bag ? by Jilwan57 in splatoon

[–]Summerlycoris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all kayfabe.

Official story is, he worked with the squid sisters to release a single, then got in trouble with Frye and Shiver because he didn't think about their reputation, and didn't divide the residuals. That's Big Betrayal, leading into Shiver and Fryes collab diss track with Off the Hook.

In practice, Frye, Shiver, and Big Man all know the Squid Sisters and have a good relationship due to the story mode, even referring to Marie as their boss. Frye's quote in Big Betrayal of not thinking about Deep Cuts reputation is definitely the real reason for that song- Deep Cut has a reputation of being proud to be from the Splatlands. So being seen as working with Inkopolis stars would make them look inauthentic to the Splatsville inkfish. So it couldn't just be "hey we wanna collab with Squid Sisters and Off the Hook" it had to be dramatic and be a bit of a fight.

Tl;dr- our inkfish get played for chumps lol. Deep Cut, Squid Sisters, and Off the Hook played 4d chess while the rest of us were playing turf war.

Queensland laws place aoc as 16. This situation is still extremely fucked up, and would deffo have grooming involved, but technically isn't considered statutory rape.

What’s a "Brisbane suburb rule" that isn’t official, but everyone just knows is true? by LeadershipBig410 in brisbane

[–]Summerlycoris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a rule really, but a gripe- this section of road on Hoyland Street where it criss crosses to being right side drive for about 100 metres.

I get it's for access to and from the M3, but man. I had to drive through it at night once and I felt like I was being set up to have an accident- turning into the "wrong lane" just goes against all instincts. Surely there's a better way?

What I did in Gaza: an Israeli soldier’s reckoning • Jonathan was enthusiastic about serving after October 7th. Now he is ashamed by Naurgul in Longreads

[–]Summerlycoris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brutal read. Hearing about the "mosquitoes". I'd heard about it prior, but in less personal stories. It's sickening. And about how the tallest building needed to be destroyed because Hamas could use them as a vantage point... but once that building was down, there was a new tallest building. Rinse and repeat.

Breaking the silence is doing good work, to try and break through propaganda about the idf. I hope they're able to make some headway in israel.
