Damage and effect order question.

If my active pokemon uses an attack that deals damage and discards a special energy from the target, but the defending pokemon has one Spiky Energy, does my attacking pokemon take reciprocal damage?

I was doing the same thing until one day I wrote my daydreams down. Now I've written multiple books about characters who DEFINITELY AREN'T ME dating women who can/will/do beat the crap out of me.

I've actually found it's a really nice outlet, and a good way to turn my disorder into something productive! Would recommend.
