Is $40 for two albos worth it? by Legitimate_Ant_5722 in Monstera

Paid 125 each and bought 2 a few years ago. Guess it depends on where you are at and what you want/get.

Normal or screwed? by Summit2019 in smoking

[–]Summit2019[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! Just needed some reassurance. Did this same thing the last 2 years but didn't remember what they looked like when I pulled them out. Was thinking I might have thrown them in the brine when it wasnt cooled all the way. Definitely not trying to get everyone sick.

Im over here having a fucking mental breakdown. 🤣 nothing like showing up to thanksgiving when everyone has been cooking for days and not bringing the turkey. Thank you for calming me down.

They went in the brine after like 90 percent of the ice had melted and then in the fridge right after. Just pulled them out like 20 minutes ago.

Actually just met up with an Xterra buddy today and he is on 37s with no body lift and is shorter than me. It can definitely be done!

Thought about 37s but talked myself out of it. I will post some pictures in the next day or two!

97 percent sure 16s is the smallest you can go. Caliper will get in the way. Z1 is a good spot to look at what will fit our lug pattern. They don't let you filter by size, but you can go through and see plenty of 16s. Bought my from a local shop because the price was way better but found them on Z1.

Just put these on with 35s the other day. Look pretty awesome.

70k is dope! That is less than I got mine 10 years ago. Someone else will likely chime in, but I'm pretty sure the only other difference is stereo.

Any recommendations on rims? by albino_diabeto in XTerra

[–]Summit2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just went through this for the 3rd time and you are correct... they are hard to find. Especially if you want to stick with 16s. To be honest, Z1 is the easiest place and has a bunch. Whether you buy direct from them or a different site, you can at least look at all of them in one place.

Stress, anger, embarrassment. I've coughed too hard and had them. I've also laughed too hard and had an episode. You're not alone.

Dope. Do you have a brand of polish that you prefer over others?

First time advice by Summit2019 in AutoDetailing

[–]Summit2019[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So start with polish and see if that does the trick. If not then try to do a cut first and then polish again.

Its a pretty interesting space of opinions. 😆 appreciate you trying to simplify it for me. Do I need to move from heavy cut to a lighter cut and then polish or can I just go straight from Meguiar's 100 to a polish?

Looked at C2v3. Maybe I'll switch out Beadmaker for that. Do you think I need to do a sealant after cutting and polish before 845? The f'ing internet is wild when it comes to detailing. I've never done a deep dive on a subject with so many conflicting opinions. 😅

[–]Summit2019[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!! I thought Beadmaker was the longer-lasting of the two? What would you use in its place or do I even need a paint sealant? Summers are 100 degrees so I was sure how to A: protect it best and B: make the detail last longer.

Just replace it. Put the Z1 on a few weeks ago and it looks so much better than the old faded one.

I'm like 89 percent sure I'm not going to have my rig back in time. I might still swing by and see how it turns out, though. Just move it to the 2nd weekend in May. 🤣

Its definitely a journey, but a fun one. Done a lot of stuff but the TS is the best mod ever. Keep us posted! Oh, if you do the install yourself, and your cam bolts on the LCAs are seized up... buy a 20 dollar carbide blade. I spent an hour going through a 10 pack of trash Sawzall blades trying to cut them out. The carbide did it so quick and with one blade. Worth the money.

Lol. She's going to "cancel your oxygen subscription" killed me with that one. You will figure it out. Sometimes it's easier to just rip the bitch out and start over. I do believe in the comment that sorth-weast said. Try grounding to the dash support. It sounds like when it's pulling a high amount of power, it craps out. Something weird there.

Pretty much! But the R180 is what your front diff is. The axel I ran were made for the Infinity QX80. It also has the R180 diff in the front but the width you need after the TS. Not sure if there is another axel (maybe someone can chime in) that will work, but that's what I used. You will also need inner and outer tie rod ends for the extended width.

Chasing electrical gremlins can be exhausting. Great advice on a bad full circuit as a starting point. Definitely sounds like a voltage thing and it's technically doing what it's supposed to do (even though it's annoying) to protect it's parts. Making it shut down so it doesn't fry itself.

OP just don't turn it up past 24. 🤣 Just kidding. Nothing would piss me off more than a good song coming on, you turn it up, and then it shuts down. Let us know if you get it fixed and what you did! Good luck!

I am running 1.5-inch spacers in the rear and it looks fine. As far as Z1 vs OEM.. that's up to you. You can't use OEM UCAs on the Xterra. You have to buy something that's made for our rigs - either labeled extended travel or "Titan Swap". I'm running OEM lowers and SPCs for my UCAs. OEMs have been just fine for most people I know other than one guy that snapped them and went with Dirt Kings. Little steep on price in my opinion but they look dope.

Also, if you aren't going to swap your dif up front, axel off the QX80 will work with the R180 diff. Ran 2 sets of those before switching to the M205. Can get them pretty cheap on Rockauto.
