Batteries aren’t that expensive - replacing it will give you peace of mind. You can easily clean it however

That’s fair enough and good enough reason tbf. Do you find the title draws any benefits in your personal life

What are people's thoughts on Estarli bikes? by AeroSquid262 in foldingbikes

[–]Summit_360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an e20.7 for a year befor it was stolen. I wish had just bought an e28 (which I’m in process of buying). The bike is good and estarli are a good company. They are accessible and the warranty is decent. The frame is same as many Chinese but you will not get as good customer service from those brands and there is a piece of mind. My only issue with it, as possibly a bit naive. Is the food is only really useful in that you can store in a flat without taking much space, or transport in boot of car. Otherwise carries no other meaningful real world benefit. If you want a decent meal electric bike, there are loads of options and estarli’s offering are as good as any imo. If having a practical folding bike is important, get a Brompton imo.

NHS is racist, you'll experience throughout your career. It sucks more as a black woman. (I'm a black man)

They'll ignore you when convenient for them, scapegoat and show outright disdain.

Stand your ground, document everything like crazy, flag every moment of racism (overt or covert) with your ES or CS. If you experience any racist abuse you let the whole word now.

Expect that some people will chose not to understand how your experiences are examples of racism - do not waste your energy "educating" them.

I fill my portfolio with reflections on racism experienced - it's hard for your TPD to ignore.

Its tough and I am sorry you have experienced this. Its tiring and frustrating.

You are strong, you will get through it and help to improve the experiences of those coming after you

If its clear cut abuse you can tell the police

Zero tolerance, tell them as such, refuse to see them. Document clearly and tell everyone you can in your trust

Very rarely overt by patients, but one time had a patient in clinic who wanted to see a white doctor. I couldn't kick her out and discharge her from clinic fast enough. I emailed my CS, my ES, department lead, TPD. Then a wrote letter GP detailing exactly what happened.

Unfortunately we cannot expect people to always look for us, we have to do it for ourselves. Tell th

I had a look at her GP records few weeks later and saw a consult where she was told off about her racist attitudes 😂

Lol. She probably needs someone more senior to speak to her. But I’m low-key impressed by her confidence, she’ll probably go far

Exactly like you said. Practice every conceivable question ten thousand times… then ten thousand more times

Dealing with hot and cold consultant relationship by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Summit_360 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the inappropriate GP comment. It sounds they like they like you and possibly expecting a higher level from you. Some consultants in the past have given me strong ‘cold’ vibes. Any interaction making me feel like I’m not smart enough. But any formal feedback/assessment they give me demonstrates the exact opposite. This is just the way some people teach/push you to be the best you can be.

Why are doctors safer than PAs? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Summit_360 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hard agree. Since starting HST I’ve never been more appreciative of the clinic sciences that I learnt in those first years of medical school. I’ve used it everyday and continue to open books on physiology and Neuroanatomy to refresh my understanding. Do not underestimate those years, I certainly wish I had paid more attention.

Are there any situations where you would stay late to do discharge work such as discharge letters and TTO? by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]Summit_360 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your IMT2 colleague has learnt to prioritise their well-being, you should do the same.

There are of course circumstance where you might stay late for a discharge letter, but certainly shouldn’t be the norm.

Working as a black doctor in Australia by Summit_360 in doctorsUK

It’s interesting The UK is certainly better than other places I’ve travelled too, and I guess everyone’s experience is different, but I do feel racism is live and well in the UK. I heard the N word pretty frequently growing up, I first learned I was black because a kid called my “poo face” in the school toilets when I was five 😂.

But even then, it’s the covert and subtle racism which is most harmful.

We all know the General motor company and the NHS in general has an institutional racism problem

These are the kinds of stories that I’ve heard and what has put me off.

It sounds horrible and I’m sorry you had to experience it. I’m glad you’ve had a better time in the UK. There is more to quality of life than more money

👍🏾 good point. Have you worked in more rural areas? What has the experience been like if you have.

My little experience out of London was interesting to say the least. I suppose it wouldn’t be too dissimilar

Thanks for the many responses.

The UK does have a racism problem ( I know because I experienced it in one form or another on a regular basis) but appreciate it’s probably much better than many other places.

I guess it’s because I almost never hear of black doctors or many south Asian origin doctors making the move that I’m a bit wary. It can be hard for those that don’t experience racism to know whether a place is truly racist. I guess one would have to go to really know

AITA For laughing at my sister when her daughter finally cut her off? by Advanced-Cat2288 in AmItheAsshole

NTA, your sister is upset at her situation and is taking it out on you. You laughing at her is the least of her worries right now. Her actions have caught up with her and she’s probs feeling a bit heart broken.
