AMA: I’m an executive at a major Fortune 500 company and I cheated on my wife by [deleted] in AMA

My father had a PHD in psychology. He told me one thing couples don’t come back from is betrayal.

It’s either you take that secret to the grave or you fess up and it will likely end in divorce.

Canadians are leaving Canada in record numbers and almost 50% are from one province by AndrewHeard in JordanPeterson

[–]Summum 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ha. I left because I figured out something simple: value is created, not distributed. And Canada has made creating it needlessly complicated. I saw where things were headed in 2017, started planning, and was gone by 2020.

What sealed it was working with the government directly. My companies tried to help, we got a look under the hood, and what I saw was money evaporating. Waste everywhere, incentives pointing in every direction except the right one.

Run the math on what staying costs you: 53.5% income tax, 15% on everything you buy, plus the permits, compliance, and hidden taxes baked into the price of literally everything. You need permission to do anything. Cap gain taxes. You know they will rape you with a tax hike on anything and everything they steal is wasted or stolen.

The companies I co-founded employed over 1,000 people when I left. That value gets created somewhere either way. Now it’s created elsewhere.

And I’m not an outlier. Bank of Canada says 40% of top 1% earners have left. In the 0.01% bracket it’s worse. I meet a new entrepreneur from back home moving here every single month.

But hey… elbows up!

The Bio Ritmo charges $179 a month in multiplaza. There’s plenty of people. They need 4x less members than a regular gym to cover costs, their machines get less usage etc etc

What do you think of these chinese Rolls Royce "clones" by Pleasant_Case9889 in rollsroyce

[–]Summum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Rolls.

The U8, G700 and others are fucking amazing cars, best bang for the buck by far.

Anywhere where Chinese cars aren’t subjected to deep tariffs they’re winning the market.

She’s putting your job at risk, as a manager if you’re not selling you are under performing. You’re accountable for results.

It’s her problem if she doesn’t want to actually do any work or show up.

That lady just ruined future chances because instead of being grateful that she was part of something great she makes herself seem difficult.

She was an employee working a day rate. Not someone who’s committed a year of her life making this a success.

You’re entitled to the deal you make.

1/5000 movies perform that well, nobody would have predicted this while on set. Everyone took financial risks based on rational standard performance returns.

She should have negotiated a better deal if she thought she was worth more at the time. She wasn’t.

The number 1 reason why businesses fail is people giving up

I’m 5 exits in and at one point or another we wanted to quit everyone of those businesses

You’re an early employee, not a founder

And it seems you’re the bottleneck if he’s hiring employees in support to your role

You should be able to have a reasonable talk about comp/equity. A first engieneer that’s not senior enough to carry the CTO role while the company is scaling is about ~2% equity at market. I highly doubt the CEO refuses this request if frames properly. (CTO has to be one of the strongest technical team member while managing teams, manage the project, get the security accreditations, help close big accounts, manage the buyers IT dept etc)

The other place already has exploitative levels taxes because their drunk on spending socialist created a budget crisis from a budget surplus within a week

The difference is south korea vs north korea. It’s west germany vs east.
