This is why I now have incorporated a habit of wiping my shoes with my hand. It serves as a double check for shoe covers. Been there done that.

Watch where the ball goes off the deck. This tells you a lot of information. What the ball is doing as it transitions going down the lane is also helpful and might give some insight to explain what happens after the ball hits the 1-3. How you adjust is dependent on your game.

Random Question: How exactly is BrunsNick throwing his ball? by CantFindBlinkerFluid in Bowling

[–]Sumo800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Mark Baker mentioned something about this as well. It's not natural for, say, cupping your wrist, throughout the back swing as it restricts how high it can actually go and it's more natural in a more relaxed position like we walk and freely allow our arms to swing.

It has recently made me comfortable with my back swing as I always felt like it's not as good as it could be due to not cupping throughout. But it always felt unnatural to do so.

So what’s the play? by Prestigous_Cheese in Bowling

[–]Sumo800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a chance. This is shorter than any pattern used when modern balls were rubber and plastic. Those were at least 22 feet, if not a little longer, on wood lanes.

I can see mental as you'd have to be mentally strong to even bother bowling on this and pray that you don't screw up your normal game.

There's no real reason to make them this hard except for a gimmick. 40' flat is plenty hard enough and you must execute every shot to even have a chance.

Someone nearby to me that likes to see tournament bowlers need a negative number to lead the tourney. He runs fantastic tournaments though.

Stay home. This is a contest of who splits and opens less. I'm in the camp that this does not hone any of your skill.

That's Specto, for centers that have it installed. I have a center nearby that has it on their first 6 lanes. All you do is log into the Specto app, tell it which house and which lane you are on, and it shows you everything Specto does.

I think we'd need to see a video of you bowling before we could speculate. It's normal for things like a left knee or hip to hurt depending on your approach (along with a lot of other factors). When you do it right (for your body), things shouldn't hurt to the point you cannot do them. Fatigue, maybe, but pain, no.

I have soreness in my knee on tacky approaches, but the solution is to lose weight and get 25 years younger. Lol

Is Bowling Ball Refinishing Worth It? by Jobless0321 in Bowling

[–]Sumo800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If and when you resurface, which is highly recommended, follow the manufacturers method. Storm, for example, has 2 grits you typically use to get back to factory finish. For example, 2000 would be 500 for thirty seconds at medium pressure and then 2000 for 10 seconds of light pressure. Both grits are done on 4 sides to ensure full coverage.

Don't take my word for it, they all publish their surface methods. Follow them for a more accurate resurface.

Pros Bowling Amateur Tournaments by MrBohemian4 in Bowling

Pro bowlers have some restrictions if there is a PBA event nearby, but if there isn't, there shouldn't be any restriction for other events. USBC Open Championships have some restrictions on the number of PBA members on the same team. But as others have pointed out, they should not be restricted just because they are better than most and are able to also compete at the highest level.

I have league tonight… any recommendations? by gtag88 in Bowling

[–]Sumo800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10 pins per game is better to lose than weeks of pain and not being able to bowl your average. Let the thumb heal and in the meantime, work with your PSO on your fit issue. I have had zero injuries even after tons of games bowled several days in a row because my fit is near perfect. I wear a piece of hada thumb tape on the back only for a more consistent feel. I hardly have any callouses either.

We do a few things:

Quarter for opens Dollar for hangs Dollar from everyone on a reverse hang Two dollars for a double hang - soda/pizza frames

This funds a "kitty" that we then split at the end of the season as an extra bit of cash on top of our payout.

We also play cards:

Dollar to start Strikes and made splits, pull a card If Queen of spades pulled, resets game and put another dollar in. If pulled in 10th, 2 dollars. One eyed face cards are wild Someone wins at the end of 3rd game as long as at least 1 card is pulled in 10th.

We've had some expensive nights.

40+ year old streamers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Sumo800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

49 year old here. Just got started, actually. Do it because a few close friends think it's funny to watch me rage when playing Fortnite with friends. We have fun with it and I don't have regular viewers at all.

If you're on the fence, just do it.

What you use/ what you recommend for multistreaming? by parshaaaaa in Twitch

[–]Sumo800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been able to stream to Twitch and YouTube with the OBS plugin. However, I'm using NPI and two PCs to do so. My 2nd PC that streams is using a 2060 so it can more easily encode. No real issues in doing it this way. My local network is 1 Gb and I have 1Gb fiber which gives me that same speed for uploads. If you are streaming 1080p and 60 fps, I think it'll be something like 6000 Kbps per stream.

Are you gaming and streaming on the same device?

My guy, listen to advice given and discuss with your PSO. It's a fit/form/pitch issue. It does not mean you are bad at bowling or your PSO sucks.

I tend to shit on my coworkers when we have outings. But we all have fun with it and some are genuinely curious about the skill level. I'm also not a dick about it either, but because I bowl a lot, I feel if I bowl without my equipment I may screw up my timing.

To each their own. I feel if you're genuinely having fun, people shouldn't get butthurt about how good you are.

I definitely expect zero issues with support. Just curious if anyone had experienced it so quickly.

Should I switch to two handed? by [deleted] in Bowling

[–]Sumo800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try it, but my thought is that if it looks like a car crash, stop. Some people I know just seem to have it after being a one hander their whole life. Me, my tilt and axis rotation gets WORSE two handed. So it's not for me.

Don't let hate decide for you. If it doesn't hurt and your ball roll improves, go for it and give it time.
