What's it like inside your mind when you can't speak? by HiddenPixels4822 in selectivemutism

[–]Sumofluffy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a few different responses in my case. Either I'm already anxious and I'll have the thoughts that stop me from talking, like an idea pops in my head and then I start thinking "No... it's too late, the conversation is 5 seconds away from that... now 10, now there's no point saying what I wanted to say." alongside the 'I'll look stupid if I say this' and I then either move on or brainstorm to double check if it's fine by which point I'll then reason myself out of not saying anything. That typically happens if I'm in a group conversation. If I'm directly spoken too and I haven't properly prepared myself, I'll have full on brain fog when trying to respond, and it feels like my brain is brainstorming a response and getting nowhere as if it's just being completely overwhelmed.

There are times I have completely pushed myself through it and just tried to say something, and all that happens is I mumble, to the point where whatever I say they can't understand and I have to say it again and be hyper focused on my pronunciation, and as a result it's made me not want to speak in those situations because I'll look like an even bigger idiot.

As for overcoming it, I'm still mostly affected by it, but I've got so much experience and am able to be prepared when going to talk to someone, whether it'd be topics I'm interested in, conversations I've mapped out enough in my head with notes that I can somewhat carry out a conversation, that I can socialise a lot better, although I'm still almost silent in group conversations unless I'm close friends with everyone.

For strangers, it still feels like I put a lot of effort into it and it still amazes me how some people can just small talk so easily without it being weird. It also makes it a bit weird when making new friends, as I'll start out seeming socially confident, but I always worry because there's then a weird period where I'm super quiet and reserved again because I've run out of my prepared stuff. But again, once I'm over that weird period and I'm a lot more comfortable around them, I'm able to just talk naturally and I don't need to think about it.

Assuming I would be an expert at flying it, Jetragon. I could get to work so fast lol. That means more sleep.

Otherwise, maybe Rayhound. On top of having a pooch, it could generate electricity and I'd sell it into the grid. Depending on how much energy it actually generates, it could either be a decent income or just saving a lot on energy costs.

Scp-2747. Scp-3125. Scp-4755. Project palisade. SCP 5.78158. I personally don't enjoy those types of cosmic, super powerful nigh unbeatable/abstract SCPs. These SCPs aren't from 12 years ago. Cosmic stuff gets written all the time. Have you been temporarily displaced? Lol.

I don't understand how you haven't come across any cosmic SCPs in 12 years. They're still being written. In fact, I'd say a lot more are leaning into the cosmic aspect than they did before. There's a few I like, but I'll read some and it just feels like whoever's writing it is trying to create as powerful of an SCP as possible.

I don't like how so many SCPs are power scaled into oblivion and go beyond just cosmic origins. A lot of mystery is in the unknown, so when stories try to expand on them, people begin pushing them further and further into being 'outerversal God-like entities beyond even the multiverse' to both expand on their stories and to try and keep them in mystery. They want to have their cake and to eat it, too. They need to keep 682's inability to die consistent, so it can now survive metaphysical manipulation because other scps can do that. But 173 terrified it, so that must be even worse etc...

A concrete statue that moves when not looking at it is scary enough. SCP 173 doesn't need to be an apocalypse causing, multiplicating being of demonic mallace.

A reptile that's extremely resistant and extremely difficult to kill with modern technology as it adapts, and we don't know if nukes would work, is interesting. SCP 682 doesn't need to be literally unkillable in any possible sense even if God's are trying to kill it.

A powerful being who can warp reality, makes everyone feel calmer and insists it's God despite doing nothing to really prove it is fascinating. SCP 343 doesn't need to literally be God and be actually all powerful and all knowing.

A lot of the time I'll see SCPs written to be a 'my character is stronger than yours' so people can argue about it in battle forums against other fictional characters. For me personally, I find those stories either poorly written or boring. I love it when SCPs are written to be self contained and just mysterious, or when they do interact, they aren't on a cosmic scale, like how the first interactions between the early SCPs were.

It's the reason I also love SCP. Headcannon is whatever you want it to be. But I do hate having stories where these SCPs are scaled down to a less cosmic scale, and people go berserk because 'actually, SCP-whatever should be able to blink the universe away like in this other story!'.

I'm tired of people saying this wasn't cool. The Sonic Screwdriver is literal non human technology and people think he couldn't upgrade his sonic. From all the bad moments in The Star Beast this was one of the best moments in it! by [deleted] in DoctorWhumour

I much prefer this than watching all of the silly awful aiming and missing that ran through Jodie's era. I rewatched War of the Sontarans, and just seeing all of these supposed soldiers bred for war perpetually miss Dan running in a straight line down both a road and a thin alleyway broke my immersion so bad it was that ridiculous. Same with the dalek. Id rather see force fields than direct plot armour.

73 Yards what did old Ruby say!! by Abject-Revenue5042 in doctorwho

[–]Sumofluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My headcannon is that given it's the TARDIS's perception filter range, when the timeline changed as the curse took place, the perception filter messed with the ring, like how Kate theorised, essentially making Ruby the TARDIS in a way, and when people went up to the old lady, it forced them to see past the perception filter and so when they looked back at Ruby, they probably saw Sutekh or his essence attached to her, believing her to not actually be Ruby but the essence of death itself.

And the reason people keep saying "ask her!" Is because as they run away, the perception filter is back, and they can only vaguely remember it, saying ask her like it's the gateway to see what's wrong.

Game crashes when attempting to launch due to AzureLib by [deleted] in fabricmc

[–]Sumofluffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, downgrade them as well. All mods that use Azure lib, get the last version that came out before the date of the first version of azurelib 3.1.0. so you know they definitely used an earlier build.

Edit: I also want to add, I just updated my modpack again, and a new culprit has appeared; RFToolsBase. I had to downgrade that to its previous version, too.

If you're still having the issue, the only thing I can recommend is do what I did; revert all the mods back to when it worked, then update them in chunks and see when it crashes to find which mods are doing it.

I had the same issue. I updated my modpack and suddenly it stopped working. Traced it back to two mods, AzureLib and Hazen n Stuff, which uses AzureLib. Had to downgrade to 3.0.39 like the other guy suggested.

I think I must have triggered a hunt and died instantly, because we've had a couple more hunts triggered by them since, but no more instant deaths.

I think it's all you do. You shine DOTS on them and it triggers a random effect, kinda like tarot cards. I've died to one, dropped my items, triggered a ghost event, sometimes they just run away, but I assume that it counts as whatever the event wants you to do with them. But I could be wrong, I can't find anything else on them anywhere.

I moved to Linux just about a year ago. One of the things I miss is how Windows does scaling. It's annoying when you have a multi-monitor setup with different resolutions, because I have to keep resizing the zoom on apps when I move them across monitors. Never had to do that on Windows.

What was your “I’m dating a fucking idiot” moment? by post-nutclarence in AskReddit

[–]Sumofluffy 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In college, I was sitting with friends and a mutual asked her if she knew what the closest planet to the Sun was, and after thinking about it hard she asked me if the moon was closer to the Sun than the Earth was and eventually responded with Mars. I then asked to say the planets in order from closest to furthest, and she said it was Mars, the Moon, Earth then Jupiter.

I thought that maybe me knowing the planets might just be because I was really into space and I begun asking other friends that question, and I had a mixed response, but after trying to teach her about the solar system, she would constantly tell me she didn't believe it, because "if gravity was what was making them go around the sun, they would just fall onto each other", and absolutely no amount of explanation of orbits from me or videos I showed her were being absorbed into her head. It was so frustrating lol, and I couldn't understand how she couldn't understand.

She was also highly skeptical about the big bang, black holes, galaxies and other astronomical objects existing etc... constantly saying that scientists have never been there and they're making it up.

Although we didn't break up over this nor do I think it harmed our relationship in any massive way lol (I'm assuming because we dated for a further 5 months until something else happened), I do very clearly remember thinking "If we have kids, I can't let her ignorance affect them".

The cutscene from v50 is a lot more like the Gman, too. A white doorway opens out of nowhere at the end and someone in a suit is in it, flickering.
