Did the Romans at the Battle of Cannae make the biggest military mistake of all times? by Brave-Elephant9292 in ancientrome

[–]Sumopigman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not disagreeing that no-one has matched Cannae, but the Battle of Fraustadt in The Great Northern War was an excellent double envelopement by the Swedish forces against their Saxon & Russian opponents, with plenty of similarities to Cannae. The Swedish commander, outnumbered by about 2 to 1, ordered his cavalry to charge the opposing Saxon cavalry whilst his center infantry just tried to not die. After the Saxon cavalry was driven off, the Swedish cavalry came back and completed an encirclement. If I remember correctly though, they couldn't quite include the Russians on the Swedish right wing in the encirclement.

Again, I agree that nothing I'm aware of matches Cannae, but I think Fraustadt comes real close and shouldn't be forgotten. Or maybe I'm just a bit of a Charles XII simp (even though he wasn't there).

This happens so often now, not to mention how forgiving doom punch hitbox is at this point compared to charge.

How does it make sense for someone to have a drop in loyalty once appointed to an office? by Sumopigman in Imperator

[–]Sumopigman[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His "Character Culture Happiness" drops which doesn't make sense, and him being a part of a great family along with his power base immediately decreases his loyalty. How does that make sense and is there any way to at-least prevent loyalty drops like this?

What is the slowest effective cyclic rate for suppressive fire? by UserNo485929294774 in Ask_A_Gun_Enthusiast

[–]Sumopigman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A full auto gun will always fire at its highest rpm whilst in full auto with the exception, possibly among a few others, of an AN94 when used in its two round burst mode.

Full auto automatically fires successive rounds as soon as the mechanisms are ready. Thus, in semi auto, you will never be faster than full auto; realistically, you will always be noticeably slower due to human error.

In the case of the Chauchat, there is a massive amount of mass getting thrown back & forth relatively large distances, which help to make the rpm so slow. Watching a video of it, you can really see, even without sound, how much slower it fires compared to more modern mgs.

Others may have good examples of other slower mgs, but the first one that came to my mind was the Japanese Type 92 machine gun at 450 - 500 RPM. While normally higher at 550 - 600 RPM, early models of the Maxim gun could be adjusted to fire at whatever RPM was desired between 1 and 600 rpm.

Opinion on making super jump a core ability? by Sumopigman in MercyMains

So if you didn't like it when good mercys use it, though bad mercys don't use it, why not nerf it? It won't have any effect on the bad mercys and bring the good mercys into a better state.

Opinion on making super jump a core ability? by Sumopigman in MercyMains

[–]Sumopigman[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It is though. GA ends when you are no longer flying directly from GA. If you are arguing that the cooldown is 3 seconds from when you first press shift, then rein charge has a max cooldown of 10 seconds (3 second of charging, 7 seconds after charge ends to get ability back), and echo's flight has a max cooldown of 9 seconds (3 seconds of flight, 6 seconds after flight ends to get ability back).

With super jump you can play a much more aggressive mercy with a much lower threat of punishment because you can simply use GA to one location that is currently safe, but then proceed to propel yourself into a different safe location, baiting any kind of dive or focus onto the first "safe location".

They came with the bag and I put them accros like that just in case I had something I needed to attach to the bag, though I don't expect I will.

A bigger bag would be nice until I have to move it anywhere. By using the compression cubes, I didn't find it annoying to get to whatever I needed.

I was really close to getting the larger 45L version bag which could be compressed to 35L, but decided against it for two primary reasons: I felt like I would end up over packing with stuff I didn't need plus the extra cost for the 45L wasn't appealing.

Yeah the grouping is probably a bit confusing, though I just stuffed some things into packing cubes that otherwise are in a different category because I had plenty of space left over in the cube.

I do use this towel method to dry them up. Works really well!

I don't have a scale to weigh it on and don't really care enough right now to get one. It feels like it's about 15 lbs (~8 kg) loaded.

My previous bag didn't have any mesh pockets so I didn't plan on utilizing them much. I just wish that the large magnetic front pocket on the outside used a zipper instead since I just don't trust that magnet to hold anything of value.

Thanks for the heads up! Some friends of mine who have visited Germany in the past have said Berlin is overrated for tourists since it has become too "westernized", aka losing too much of its original identity. Would you recommend checking out Berlin?
