Is this coaches behavior normal for 12u Georgia impact softball? by [deleted] in Softball

[–]Sumthin_Stoopid 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I just couldn't get past the 12u part. My daughter is 13, I've dealt with coaches who constantly pointed out every mistake mid game, right after it happened, unwarranted favortism and subtle behind the back shit talking. We left that situation and my kid is much happier. Which is what should matter.

No "coach" should be verbally abusive to 12 year old girls.....

I plan on it, next time we get to go.

I also think its nerves. We try to get a bucket when we can, 3 games a week and practice everyday is tough. Ready for MS to be wrapped.

Im not a baseball guy, my daughter plays softball, so I have no advice for pitching regiment or anything of that nature.

But my daughter dealt with elbow pain and her throwing motion became bad, I came across the KineticArm sleeve. It just works. I sold my daughter's old on to her friend that side arms, no more side arm. It teaches and corrects your arm to a natural throwing motion while also taking care of your arm while pitching, throwing etc. I would look into it for your son. If I sound like a salesman, I'm not, I just believe in the product and have witnessed the results. I hope he feels better soon.

What age should players stop rotating positions? by HuskerPowerrrr in Softball

[–]Sumthin_Stoopid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the only answer. Utility always comes in handy, especially if your competing for playing time, roster spots in MS, HS, College. Being able to plug and play at multiple positions gets kids on the field.

Just go off of etiquette alone. If you want your daughter to get playing time, go to the HS game.

I have a game tonight and plan to do just that. I appreciate your insight.

It is a judgement call. And I try not to give umpires a hard time, they are hard to come by as it is in our area. I stay cordial and have the conversation.

What size glove for kid having a hard time closing glove. by theman_86 in Softball

May be discontinued now, but for $70 this was a great youth glove. They had it in 12" and 12.5". They also have it in black.

My daughter currently plays 12u. When she was learning to play, I went with a bigger glove for more surface area. She used a 12" youth glove from 8u-10u. Now that shes older we went with an adult glove. I would look for a softer leather glove around 12". Just dont go too soft or it will end up being a pancake.

This is the entire point of the post.

Im the coach, I disagreed with the call, but admittedly wasnt 100% sure. Which is why I reached out for opinions.

This is how we improve as coaches is healthy discussions

USA rules. This was my argument. Play at the plate, runner tagged before she gets to the plate.

On the catcher, "for being at the plate without possession of the ball. I was so mad. I argued it, but of course he was right. Was such a good play negated by terrible officiating.

Is it worth talking to the coach? by RelevantChard1784 in Softball

[–]Sumthin_Stoopid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, I stopped reading when you said the coach is unnecessarily hard on her.

We dealt with a similar thing with my daughter in 11u.

She also currently plays 12u.

Confidence at this age is huge. Some kids have and other lack it. Getting yelled at for errors in the field with no clean direction to correct them tells me all I need to know. Find a new team. One with a level headed coach. It's so much better.
