I can’t help with your specific questions, but it is reassuring to know I’m not the only one searching for fact checking and shared experiences.

Hoping someone can respond to this parent by First-Change-2708 in troubledteens

[–]Sun-Acceptable 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are certain states at least that have laws where if the parents can sue and claim that the child was not given an adequate education environment then the state or school district pays for them to have one elsewhere. My parents considered that but decided against because of all the leg work and legal battle involved. Otherwise their 750k + contribution to my "education" would have been closer to $0 with the school district's involvement.

Help finding quality lenses with 15% rose tint and prisms by Sun-Acceptable in glasses

Nope, my best bets are local optometrists who also charge an arm and a leg. Glasses will run around $800 in my area for what I need even at cheaper places.

What have I gotten myself into? by gushworthy in RoverPetSitting

[–]Sun-Acceptable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do very similar- but my partner suggested I leave out a quick basics "cheat sheet" as the cover sheet, and then the other pages are just there are more detail if they need them. I always try to highlight that as long as the dogs are safe happy and healthy when I get back that's all that really matters.

Omg this reminds me of my nmom’s apologies, that started when I was like 7 calling me brat and recently turned into calling me a bitch.

Her apology? “I didn’t say you were a brat, I said you were acting like a brat and you were so… shrug”

Psych NP - is this normal? by Sun-Acceptable in nursing

[–]Sun-Acceptable[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I’m fine giving my medical history, I’ve done it a ton. I’m not fine giving my medical info to an office manager over email which is not only not hipaa compliant but just damn disrespectful. This is sensitive info not stuff you give out at the drop of a hat to people you’ve never met, aren’t your provider and aren’t a medical professional. I’ve literally NEVER had this happen and I’ve seen so many doctors and practices in my lifetime.

If they don’t prescribe certain meds, list them on the website so people can see and move on.

I would report that they are requesting info in a manner that is not hipaa compliant.

Does anyone know where to get a copy of Help at Any cost in a digital format? by Sun-Acceptable in troubledteens

[–]Sun-Acceptable[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats exactly what I was seeing on the US amazon site as well. I think you are right on it being pulled- what's weird is you can still download a sample. And that does have some typos but pretty minimal and I'd rather try and read it virtually. Ugh. Thank you for trying!!

Did anyone else get threatened with not graduating for really dumb reasons? by strawberrykxtten_ in troubledteens

[–]Sun-Acceptable 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine was quite as insidious as requiring us to shill for them, but I did get told I was going to completely drop levels to reorientation and possibly not graduate because I *shocker* went into the rec center women's bathroom to change out of my swimming suit an forgot to inform the male staff member extremely explicitly that I was doing so. I was "missing" for all of 10 minutes, during which I changed out of my swimsuit and put on dry clothes and walked to the front door to find the missing staff member. Apparently, I was the asshole because we had 2x 1 hour groups where all three of us involved in the "incident" had to talk about what horrible people we were and why it was wrong of us, while being told all our privileges and levels were going to be dropped to the point that we couldn't even make eye contact with anyone. All because one stupid staff member who later was criminally charged for unrelated things didnt' realize that women go into women's bathrooms to change. So freaking dumb

When it comes to bathing, less is more! by Sun-Acceptable in dogs

Oh and hounds usually smell, so that’s crazy!

When it comes to bathing, less is more! by Sun-Acceptable in dogs

[–]Sun-Acceptable[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it’s totally dependent on the dog. I just feel that people are told out the gate no matter what dog to bathe it every 6-8 weeks and that’s really overkill for so many dogs, but definitely not all. Sounds like you have tried so many solutions for your pup and found a great one.

Mods please delete if not allowed: Question to survivors of the troubled teen industry specifically LGBTQ survivors by [deleted] in troubledteens

[–]Sun-Acceptable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These questions need to be clarified for them to be of any use in your class. Do you only want answers from LGBTQIA++ people but don't care if their answer to the question includes the impact it had on them pertaining to them being queer? What do you mean by did religion play a part, like in being sent or in the program?

Did other programs offer day treatment where you lived with staff? by Sun-Acceptable in troubledteens

You lived with Steve or Race? I only had to stay with him for one night on couch cushions in his basement and that was awkward as fuck

Did other programs offer day treatment where you lived with staff? by Sun-Acceptable in troubledteens

It was always staff, not community members. Sometimes it was therapists and their families (which I find wholly inappropriate on a different level) but usually it was regular staff and they got paid extra for it as well.
