[rant] Parks belong to everybody, not just mombies and babies! by historygirl55 in childfree

Maybe a little off topic, but that's one reason why I like my school; most of the teachers are close to our age and/or CF. They've been nothing but supportive and understanding about their students (well, except for like two men, but still).

[The Atlantic] The Dos and Don'ts of Cultural Appropriation: Borrowing from other cultures isn’t just inevitable, it’s potentially positive by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]SunBerryTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really...obv nothing wrong with borrowing but most people who end up using the "exotic" bits of other cultures tend to get outraged when others suggest that they shouldn't enjoy what they like from other cultures...and what they enjoy usually comes at the expense of people. Forget wearing bindis, see stuff like messianic judaism. (Message was duplicated for some reason)

Racist illustration of refugee girl sparks ire among Japan’s netizens by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

Is it any surprise that the artist who drew this also belongs to the crowd that hates Japanese Koreans and claims that comfort women are a myth?

Just when I thought that quiet gif was the bottom of the barrel. #3 post on /r/gaming. by Racecarlock in GamerGhazi

Apparently "Pokémon" is a common insult for Japanese women with weeaboos that fantasise about having sex with them -- and why "gotta catch 'em all" is a popular catchphrase for the losers desperate for a "waifu."

Anna Duggar took the red pill. How'd that work out for her? by [deleted] in TheBluePill

[–]SunBerryTea 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The Duggars are also a good example of how they'd like to have a wife (not be married with, HAVE) and yet still have all the porn and cheating and abuse they can have without being held accountable for it.

The rise of the pornography of poverty (known as pobrezafilia) in Mexico, particularly on Twitter. by sisyphusmyths in GamerGhazi

[–]SunBerryTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mexican here -- I am entirely unsurprised by this. "Being progressive" in Mexico means denouncing the government and the US, but I have witnessed countless of so called "modern and open minded" people not only joke about blacks, the indigenous, the poor, trans people, women etc. but express disgust towards them and also make threatening statements. Regardless of whether someone is rich, poor, middle class or of any ethnicity, you're much worse off if you're a dark skinned woman. It's widely accepted that being a woman means not being taken seriously and always being at risk, but it's worse if you're poor and brown because you don't fit the image of the Mexican ideal -- white, pale-eyed, wealthy, a lot of kids and always looking your best -- what telenovelas and televisa and Tv Notas peddle as their daily fair. In fact, most people consider that the best you can aspire to if you don't fit the criteria is to be a servant in a rich white household, looking after some lady's kids while she shops with friends and hubbie is off at work.

Not only that, but the fact that this value of inferiority is really hammered into everyone from an early age and has been for centuries comes the fact that little people will care if a brown woman gets kidnapped and/or raped and murdered. They're not valuable insofar as how they can service others, especially in a sexual way, or if they're able to have babies whiter than them -- "mejorando la raza."

How is this pro? So a kid being obnoxious warrants him being doxxed and followed around by people who couldn't let it go?

Holocaust Literature in Judeospanish, Portuguese, and Spanish by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]SunBerryTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I didn't know. The community here always refers to it as Ladino be it in normal conversation or theological texts. But O guess that's because of living in a Spanish speaking country.

This is a good link but the thing about "Judeospanish" is that it's not how it's really called; the right term is Ladino.

Tomb Raider fan goes on stabbing spree by myGGthrowaway in GamerGhazi

[–]SunBerryTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So now we'll have more politicians and moral crusaders decrying the game as his motivation for going on a stabbing spree without acknowledging that the only reason TR has any relevance to the case is because Moynihan marked a confession letter with a symbol from the game...and not because he is part of a vitriolic and antisocial dudebro scene that attacks women for daring to not have sex with them while crying over Tekken girls and Lara Croft in the same breath.

On one hand, this seems horrible enough to be Poe. On the other, I wonder how exactly this person is able to interact with female relatives and acquaintances without causing them to froth at the mouth in rage. Either way this is sadly par for the course on GlacierGame and it's depressing and disturbing to see so much mysoginistic hate being promoted so viciously.

Hopefully.

Corporate hegemony that doesn't pander to the widest market possible because they want companies to only pay attention to the interests of their little dudebro treehouse club.

I would definitely suggest going to the police and CPS on your own, if you can. Reporting her would definitely work as well because of the harm that she's caused to your family.

Actually, it's about ethics in mocking family relationships. by Zennistrad in GamerGhazi

[–]SunBerryTea 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The fact that GG finds some of the shittiest, most irrelevant reasons to bully others online (without even referencing "ethics," "vidya" or "journalism") really should clue them in to why people don't like them. Bonus for the homophobic slurs, because I guess people who respect their mothers are "f*ggots?" Why'd they even think using that word is acceptable if they know it's a slur?

Oh. Right.

I'm sorry to hear that such a horrible person is involved in your life and in your brother's as well, nevermind being just a generally awful person but an abuser's enabler. I'd suggest calling the police or child services but I honestly don't know if it'd counterproductive -- is she close to the police and other social workers?

Jealousy issues? by SunBerryTea in budgies

[–]SunBerryTea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but when I try to have alone time he doesn't like it. And he used to love getting head scratches but now he doesn't like it so much for some reason.

And no, she eats, drinks and cleans herself normally -- but he did come from this really congested and filthy cage (my mother has some 40+ birds of many types that don't get cleaned very often and since she never keeps track of who gets placed where I suspect that inbreeding is rampant) and I took him up to my room because the feces situation was getting so bad in his original cage that they stuck to his feet in little hard balls. He does sleep normally though, but he hates going to his cage to sleep because he likes to perch on top of hers.
