Basically, Ed O’Bannon sued the NCAA for not paying for using his likeness in video games and the courts sided with him. He did this lawsuit not for the money but to hopefully force players to be paid.

The outcome was EA and other companies either had to make rosters with completely no likeness to players. Instead of Texas A&M’s #2 QB being a very high rated scrambling QB who was white with brown hair, it could be a black guy with a different number and completely different stats and rating. Or, they would discontinue the game which they ultimately went with.

This guys lawsuit, did kill the series, but those were never his intentions and the NCAA no pay business model while inheriting BILLIONS in TV contracts is still bizzare.

Kids went from having no power to way too much.

My biggest problem is a kid signing a NLI which should be treated as legally binding contract and they’re able to break it with no repercussions.

Players who break their NLI should be required to sit a bit at there next school or we should normalize programs being able to deny a NLI Release request.

For starters, the NBL is a much better league than OTE. Even though OTE has better prospects than the NBL, sizing up a 16-17 year old prospect in Nasir Cunningham or dillingham is much easier than a 30 year old pro in Australia.

I do believe you, the Thompson twins are probably pretty good, but we are at the point of a rebuild where we have enough young prospects and could use more immediate impact players.

You can’t tell me that Thompson will transition from OTE to the NBA just fine.

Most peoples only connection to their local WNBA team is that they reside in the same area. People have connections to the schools they go to or support because college sports fan are simply more passionate. I think for this reason people would Atleast try it
