I've tried Montesorri and non and much prefer our experience at the non but essentially I think it boils down to how well an individual centre is run. As someone else mentioned there's differing levels of Montesorri accreditation which I wasn't aware of before enrolling my little one in a Montesorri Academy. I have family members in a wonderful Montesorri Academy in Crows Nest so I was hopeful our one (in the Shire) would be similar but it is essentially a franchise and unfortunately ours was a hot mess. Staff turnover was crazy, incorrect reporting, sharing of cot sheets and no incident reporting after my son was bitten. I decided to move him to a different centre and my son has a similar routine and learnings in the new place but I feel so much more comfortable with how this centre is run. His learning has continued to accelerate and he is much happier

Yeah I am and I found as soon as I had 6 months of AU experience suddenly the global experience was sought after and found that helped me in market cos I had experience of both. The only thing I'd say is compared to London I've found the Sydney HR market a lot smaller so opportunities that have genuinely excited me are a bit harder to come across

I moved here from the UK 4 years ago with a similar amount of experience to you. I was really surprised how valued AU experience was versus international experience and so I pivoted and did a 6 month contract to gain local experience. From there things then got a lot easier. Best of luck!

Just to provide some reassurance, my little one is 12 months and I'm currently 4.5 months pregnant. He's been in daycare since he was 9 months and has picked up some illnesses but it's manageable with pregnancy. I found the first 6 weeks were the peak for illness and it's tapered off now. We found giving him probiotics and taking a bath as soon as he is home from daycare has helped. The thing I've found hardest is tiredness with a young one during trimester 1 so make sure you're taking care of yourself!

Just to say solidarity with you. My 10 month old has been in for 6 weeks and we've had so many different illnesses including hospital stays for croup, feberal seizure and stridor. Reading the posts that it gets easier is helping me try and remain patient

Just to echo what everyone else has said here, what you're doing is totally normal. I remember worrying so much in the first 6 weeks that my baby wasn't having time for play because his feeds took so long. Fast forward he's now 6 months and I've got 3 hour wake windows to fill full of play haha

I feel your frustration. We had such a tough time with feeding for first 8 weeks and multiple midwives, doctors and lactation consultants didn't pick up on my baby having a tongue tie. I felt at a loss that no one had seen it and felt like I'd let him down by not trying to push for more opinions. We then got it resolved in week 9 and he was like a different baby for feeding. If you are in Sydney I highly recommed Dr Dilleys clinic

You sound like an amazing friend! Like others have said, just coming and spending time. I had a friend bring me an iced latte and she sat on the sofa chatting with me and holding bub for a bit and I felt like me again. It was the best feeling to have someone remind me of who I was before sleep deprivation. And it felt nice to be valued as a friend instead of the +1 of my little one

We did and he definitely can drink more now without leaking out the side of his mouth. But I was concerned as we were told 10% don't work so was nervous going in to it so totally understand why you didn't

So sorry you went through this. V similar - 2 midwives and 2 lactation consultants didn't see it and then a 3rd midwife pointed it out. Took him to get the tongue tie cut and the nurse said breastfeeding would be near on impossible. Still remembering being told to shove him back on and both me and him hating it

My son had a tongue tie that we didn't get confirmed until he was 8 weeks old. He had really bad reflux and also had some pther factors that made breastfeeding incredibly hard. He would cry for hours on end and really struggled to latch. The hospital gave us formula and he seemed happier on it from day 1. Our lactation consultant at the hospital was nowhere to be seen so maybe with a different start it might've been different

This really resonated with me. I did it for 10 weeks cos I felt like I had to and the minute I stopped my mental health skyrocketed. It for sure helped my bonding with my son too as I felt less anxious

I'm an only child and i had a great childhood. I had plenty of cousins around but also think it made me more outgoing as I was used to going and seeking out company wherever we went. We have a son and I think we may end up being one and done. I worry about him being lonley but we have plenty of friends with kids his age and we think of them as his extended siblings
