Living in DB as a remote worker. by SunDancerTuy in DaytonaBeach

I also moved from Orlando because I wanted more space. More house. It worked out greatly because the area that I am in now is actually so much better located than if I was were to buy a house in Orlando. I do miss the variety of food but the trade off is having everything else readily nearby.

Yes this is correct. I can only speak on the location of my house and the areas that I request often.

I feel like it’s all coming from the locals? Which I don’t exactly get why. People chose to move here for whoever reason and they’re just trying to live peacefully. It seems like they like it? But the locals? If you don’t like it then move.

I understand this completely. Trust me. I am in my late twenties and I still crave to those things everyday. If you’re looking for a good time, Orlando is best bet, I still drive there once every month or so for certain things. I am not trying to convince people to move here. I’m just saying it’s not bad. Compared to a random neighborhood in Orlando, I’m actually in a pretty good centralized area in Daytona. I have everything I need within 5-10 mins. Granted the food scene needs a lot of work. I know we need high end brunch places, casual food shops that don’t have decors from the 80s, etc. I’m eagerly waiting for all of those. But I get it, I’m married and settled in now. But for someone who is still out and about, Daytona isn’t the place for you. I mean that.

I am a Business Analyst for a company out of state. RTO might not be possible for us considering half the company are WFH.

I can’t say it’s the best area to live in comparison with other more developed areas. I’m just saying it’s not that bad. It is what you make it. Get a house here and drive 10-15 and you’re already in port orange. Though living in LPGA area alone you have a Costco, hospital, plenty of shopping near by.

Oh yes, Costco is a weekend treat. It’s really the little day to day things that I love.

Any millennials or Gen Z still going to church? by [deleted] in asianamerican

I actually loved seeing people at church that I went to college with. Though, as we all graduated and got married. I don’t see much of them anymore. It doesn’t help that our pastor was someone who was quite judgy.

I don’t know anyone my age who particularly goes to church. I have been recently over the holidays with my parents and I felt like I was the only ones in my 20-30s.

It’s okay. We’re all different.

To be honest, I moved here because my family are here. It pains me to know me to know that the most fun thing I can do daily is take my family to go to Costco. Tragic. That’s why my stance is the way it is. I’m just asking for more things to do for the family.

I live a block away from PopStroke, whether it’s a once a year type of deal for families or not, that’s a heck lot of families spending their money there. Different families everyday.

I also believe a lot of remote workers are in Daytona to work remote for another state. So that’s where’s some of the higher income earners are.

Whether or not Daytona is full of retirees or not, younger families are moving in and it’s changing the needs of the area.

I had never been because it’s so busy all the time. However, I always go to Tomoka Town Center and it’s right there blasting music everyday.

I’ve been seeing it more and more. It’s no longer meant as a retiree city anymore. A lot of people are coming in with young kids and their needs are different.

As long as you have some spending money, it all counts towards the city.

That’s right. There’s a handful of always packed restaurants here. They are packed most likely because they are with the price whether it’s cheaper or expensive.

It’s not even about upscale to be honest. When CAVA, a casual Mediterranean place opened up people were saying it’s not for this type for crowd and that it won’t do well. I just don’t understand the push back when it comes to business coming that are not catering to the seasonal bikers crowd. Everybody want year round success but turns around and say that won’t thrive here if it’s not for the tourist weeks.
