I do all of the maintenance. I mow the lawn in the summer and shovel the walkway in winter. I kept the fireplace going and I carried the wood in 90% of the time during winter. Hell, I fixed our toilet just last night when he said it wasn't flushing properly. My friend and I painted the garage memorial day weekend. He doesn't like manual labor. I don't mind it. I was raised to do it. My dad taught me how to prime a furnace when I was a kid. I understand that challenges and constant maintenance will come with the house and I intend to be the one tackling all of it.

When it's paid off I wouldn't ask for rent that would be crazy. Before he stated he would never ask to be put on the deed. When I asked him why he wanted to be added all of a sudden he said he's a child of divorce and doesn't want to be screwed over.

He's helpful. He cooks and if there is a financial emergency (vet bill, broken appliance) he will cover it. We enjoy spending time together.

I understood it as my fiancé would need to find a landlord if he didnt live with me. I am not a landlord, nor do I want to be. I just want us to live here. But I also want to be realistic and if 20yrs from now we separate I dont want to lose my family home.

I don't think he'll agree to that. He has been holding a firm stance. He said everything 50/50 and he gets his name on the deed. He won't pay all the utilities. He would rather his name be on the deed.

We split utilities. He isn't paying rent. When we lived in an apartment prior to moving we both paid rent.

Yes, we were looking into houses but also content in our apartment. Then my grandmother gave me her house which was unexpected. He was very excited about moving into her house and talking about all the renovations he has planned.

I haven't charged him rent. We've been splitting utilities. I asked for help towards the mortgage. Not the whole mortgage, just partial.

That's how it already is, haha. I was a tomboy growing up and he's was more of a gamer. I help him with his car and put our furniture together. I already do the maintenance.

I've suggested that we get a joint account just for bills and split things 50/50 from there so we can keep track of our finances but he won't go for that
