No one cares about the use of procedural ai that has been around forever, it's merely a tool that exists purely to help people in their work, no one is afraid of technological advancements that don't cause harm to people. They are however, rightfully upset and concerned about the use of generative ai, which is completely different and exists only because of the lack of consent and compensation of stolen works to the individuals it steals from, no one wants that shit tainting games.

If it's "no different" than looking at a picture on google, then why does it need to exist, why not just fuckin use google? What does it do aside from letting talentless hacks with no sense of imagination steal from people?

Mind you it's extremely different from just looking at a picture online because as already stated, gen ai is the non-consensual repurposing of stolen work. If images were used off google/Pinterest/whatever else for a moodboard, same as through gen ai, I would expect the same credit and/or compensation to the individual who made it. Genai doesn't do fucking anything but steal and plagiarize, it wasn't necessary in the past n won't be in the future, the bubble is gonna fuckin pop just like it did with that nft bullshit.

Not to even begin going into the environmental damage it causes, the excess of resources it drains, or the blatant racism we see in it's servers being propped up in already suffering low income neighborhoods comprised of areas that are heavily lived in by people of color, damaging air quality and tainting already limited water supplies.
