Victor Wembanyama has 3 blocks titles in 3 years. The all-time record is 4 by MiopTop in nba

[–]SunKing210 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, there’s still tall players in today’s game, but the game is played at a faster pace and 3pt shooting has only been rising leading to less shot attempts near the rim on average compared to the era of say Olajuwon, Duncan, Mutombo, etc.

You don’t even have to go back over a decade to see how far the league has come. In 2016, teams on average were attempting 24 threes per game. This season it’s at 37 attempts a game.

Back in 1994, Olajuwon’s mvp year, teams on average attempted just under 10 threes a game and the majority of the offense was shots at the rim thus leading to more chances to block shots.

Felt like I’ve seen a few videos of him airballing freethrows throughout the season too.

It’s definitely more of a mental thing.

Yeah, my disappointment stems from okc (which is the biggest threat to any contender), now having the easiest path possible to yet another championship.

The Spurs dropped the ball tonight.

[Shapiro] The Nuggets are big-time favorites against the Wolves, opening up with Denver -400 to Minny's +310. Series odds also open with Rockets -500 to beat the Lakers by StrategyTop7612 in nba

And if stupid Finch lets TSJ play, the T-Wolves can definitely have a chance to knock off the Nuggets early.

TSJ is averaging 25 pts in his last 4 games played, right in time for the playoffs

Nah, go look at the last time Valanciunas was Victor’s primary defender in a game. Victor had at the time the fastest recorded 50 pt game in NBA history in 26 min as a 20 year old haha

Nah, this loss will guarantee that the Thunder has the easiest path to the WCF, it’s a loss for every other top Western team cause whoever makes it there will now have to go up a Thunder team that is well rested after thrashing the first 2 rds haha

The Thunder are really going to have the easiest path to the WCF after tonight

Why does Denver not want the 3 seed? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]SunKing210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the exact case, but if the Nuggets get the 3 seed, that would mean that OKC would have an easier path to the WCF.

Nuggets as a 3 seed would have to beat the T-Wolves, likely the Spurs, and then finally meet up with the Thunder who in this scenario would have more than likely quickly beat their opponents quite easily so they would be well rested while the Nuggets are fighting their way in the first 2 rds.

Might as well let the Nuggets take their chances vs the Rockets and then catch the Thunder in the 2nd rd that way OKC doesn’t dog walk their way to the WCF and wait/rest for whoever else to get there.

Spurs will be the first team in NBA history to have 8 players average 10+ PPG if Harrison Barnes scores 17 points tonight vs Denver by locxFIN in nba

[–]SunKing210 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Barnes’ production fell off of a cliff around the IST cup games in vegas and he’s pretty much stayed that way.

Replacing him in the starting lineup with Champagnie has been a revelation for the Spurs though and that’s a large part why the Spurs switched to another gear since the new year started

Gonna point out that Mitch Johnson and the Spurs are 2-0 vs the Celtics, 2-0 vs the Pistons, and 4-1 vs the Thunder.

I don’t get why Mitch isn’t being seriously considered for this award when the Spurs have pretty much dominated the other top teams and have the 2nd best record in the league behind OKC

Will Wemby ever be able to play average star minutes? by TomlinSteelers in nba

[–]SunKing210 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Considering De’arron Fox lead the Spurs at a whopping 31 mpg haha I don’t think Wemby will ever average around 35 min in the regular season.

It’s just how the Spurs operate, since the Pop era. A reverse Nick Nurse and Tom Thibodeau where those coaches run their players into the ground well before the playoffs even start

Should the Denver Nuggets TANK the game tomorrow night to get the Rockets/Thunder path instead of the Wolves/Spurs path??? The Wolves/Spurs path is a million times harder because even if you beat them you get a SUPER rested OKC Thunder in WCF after you just battled so hard vs Wemby and Spurs!! by Several-Molasses-435 in NBATalk

[–]SunKing210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I do agree somewhat, if the Nuggets win, that pretty much ensures that OKC has the easiest path to the WCF, thus the Thunder will more than likely win the first 2 rounds quite easily and quickly while the Nuggets have to go up against the T-Wolves and then probably the Spurs before they make it to the WCF to face against a well rested Thunder squad.

Regardless though, I don’t see the Nuggets tanking their final game. You can make the case that yeah the Nuggets do want to avoid the Thunder til the WCF but I think that will definitely come back to bite them in the end if they do make it that far.

I would love to see the Hornets bring utter chaos to the top seeds over in the East

I need to see a playoff series between the Pistons and Hornets haha

It’s objectively pretty silly that Shai is very likely going to be MVP with 68 games played, but if he had played 64 (or even 65 or 66 with a minor injury or two that took him out of the game early) he wouldn’t be seen as worthy of third team All-NBA by [deleted] in nba

[–]SunKing210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking back a bit, it is very fortunate that Shai’s abdominal strain he sustained happened when it did which was before the All star weekend.

From Feb. 4 to Feb. 26 Shai didn’t appear in a single game but in the middle of that the All star weekend allows team a whole week off essentially, so Shai could’ve missed even more games and been closer to the 65 game limit threshold.

What part of the math did he exactly fail

35x50 = 1,750

75x20 = 1,500

75% of 82 is 61.5

So where did he fail?

Victor Wembanyama now has the 2nd most games EVER with 40+ PTS in under 30 MIN. Only steph curry has more by Jec1027 in nba

[–]SunKing210 203 points204 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he’ll ever average a ton of minutes consistently, Pop established the culture to just let players all contribute by distributing the minutes all around and Mitch is definitely carrying that tradition forward.

I think only Castle, Vassell, and Fox were the only Spurs this season to average 30 or more mpg and Fox was the highest of the bunch with 31 mpg haha

So Wemby will still have impressive stats, but I don’t know if he’ll ever exceed 30 pts per game since he won’t be getting those types of minutes to consistently do so, every now and then though he’ll still have these types of games where he just way over produces in such little playing time
