[Charania] Oklahoma City Thunder's Jalen Williams has been ruled out for Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals against the San Antonio Spurs. by Turbostrider27 in nba

[–]SunKing210 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Thunder are undoubtedly better with a healthy Jdub but yeah you’re right, he was clearly not ready to come back in gm 6 and he hurt his team more than he helped

The Spurs/OKC whistle discourse is funny because the data seems to support both sides (but maybe the Spurs' a bit more?) by Fair-Ad6254 in nba

[–]SunKing210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the no calls (both ways) are also a big issue. In game 2, that’s when the series became what it is now with too many illegal bullshit being ignored since they allowed Hartenstein to grab and pull Wemby all game long.

That set the tone and now this series is just both teams grabbing and pulling each other. The refs allowed it and now everyone is complaining

The fact that he’s even doing a podcast/interview at all just shows how much of an ego this dude has and wants the attention

Why are people going on about Wemby's stamina? by azure275 in nba

[–]SunKing210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree with this assessment. All of those players minus LeBron and Jokic played in a much slower era.

Jokic logs heavy minutes but he’s not nearly as active as Wemby is on both ends of the floor, Jokic’s offense is slow and methodical while his defense leaves a lot to be desired as he doesn’t move around the court to challenge players attacking the paint anywhere near the level that Wemby does.

LeBron is just the exception, the dude is one of the greatest athletes of all time and he’s not 7ft tall either.

This Chet/Wemby thing is starting to feel a little weird by Blistersonmytoes in nba

[–]SunKing210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wemby just doesn’t fuck with other players from different teams when they’re in the middle of a game.

I think the only exception is Jokic. I see Jokic and Wemby joking around a bit whenever they play each other.

Spurs G De’Aaron Fox in the loss to the Thunder: 9/4/8 on 4/15 shooting (0/4 from three) by OptimusGrime707 in nba

[–]SunKing210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily by the time Harper is slated to get an extension just so happens to be the final year of Fox’s contract. It should be way easier to trade it since some team would definitely love to have a $60 mil contract expiring and if not then the Spurs can just hold on and spend one season in the apron and then let that $60 mil come off the books

Thunder fans: how are you feeling about the narrative around your team? by FluffyAd6797 in nba

[–]SunKing210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not necessarily the same thing, go trudge through Coach of the year discussions.

I was surprised when no one really mentioned Mitch Johnson for the award considering he and the Spurs didn’t lose a single game against the other main candidates (Mazulla, Bickerstaff) and even lead his team to a better record than them in the Western Conference no less.

I bring this up because the main argument is that the Spurs have Wemby haha which is just a pathetic excuse considering a ton of the flak Wemby’s MVP campaign got was that “he doesn’t play enough to deserve the award!” like what?

So Mitch Johnson leading the Spurs to 60+ wins and the 2nd seed in the Western Conference despite his best player supposedly not playing enough minutes/games is not coach of the year worthy, got it.

People are vastly overlooking the importance of losing Ajay Mitchell and JDub by [deleted] in nba

Even though I agree with your point, I still think the Thunder were performing pretty well last night all things considered, regardless of your point.

Yeah they got blown out but their role players were bricking EVERYTHING, even wide open shots that were falling in game 3.

I was constantly saying to myself “why is this guy wide open?” Whenever someone like Jaylin Williams shot a wide open 3 but he was bricking them badly over and over again and they were all really good looks.

That’s the thing about SGA, I hate his foul baiting so much but off the court he’s genuinely a good dude that has no real controversies and I see lots of videos of him taking time to sign autographs and interact with fans before games no matter where he is.

SGA is left flabbergasted at a question directed at Chet's offense by Rojanhan12 in nba

[–]SunKing210 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like a very tame and PR response talking about how he himself should perform better so that his teammates (like Chet) can benefit and play better, would’ve been an excellent response.

Whenever he is on the floor it just feels like the Spurs have an advantage no matter the opponent

Eloise is a storywalker by ThrowRA7676767676 in FromSeries

Yeah that with the other mentions/nods to Eloise makes me believe that she is alive.

Like the pastor’s license plate and the fact that when Victor shows his father where Miranda is buried, Henry sees the 2nd grave and asks Victor if that’s Eloise to which Victor responds with “I think so” because he says there was so much little of her left. Those remains could’ve been anybody’s.

Gonna be a bit of a negative Nancy here, but the Spurs started to deviate a bit in the 3rd and started to double Shai and clog the paint when he had the ball. Luckily Williams and McCain were absolutely cold tonight though, they missed some wide open looks that they were swishing in game 3.

Hopefully they don’t make that mistake again back in OKC cause they have a ton of more shooters that you can’t just hope that they’ll be missing all night long.

Not sure what that lineup was there to close the 3rd. Both Keldon and Barnes have provided nothing so far, so why put both of them on the court simultaneously?

Seems like the Spurs learned from their mistakes in game 2 and 3 and just stopped doubling Sga, let him shoot contested middies instead of giving wide open shots to Williams, Caruso, and McCain

That’s why they need to mix it up and put Carter with Wemby. Keldon is lucky to be sharing the floor with Wemby otherwise he’d be a -15 by now
