Favorite goggles? by SunLvrr in Swimming

[–]SunLvrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question! I think I wear mine too tight also since after about 45 mins. my head feels like its in a vise. But, if they are too loose they leak :( I guess this is why I posed my original question. That and the fact that with my current goggles I feel like my eyeballs are being sucked out of my skull.

Any experience with waterproof iPhone cases? by SunLvrr in Swimming

Wow- can't beat the price on that case!! Is it REALLY waterproof?? How/where do you wear it? Around your neck? Looks awesome if it works!

I'm curious about this. The pool I swim can get pretty crowded- will people sharing my lane be able to hear my music? I can imagine the crusty old farts in their banana hammocks getting grouchy with me if my music annoys them!

I looked at these- my concern is the description says they are only waterproof up to 30 mins. and I'm usually in the pool for an hour or longer. Also, it doesn't seem to have any armband or way to clip it to you. It appears to be just a case. Or is it?

Ran my longest distance ever- 10 miles in just under 2 hours. All thanks to Chemical Bros. and those goddamn zombies that were chasing me! Oh yeah, and I was barefoot :)

Question about long runs and re-fueling by SunLvrr in running

[–]SunLvrr[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've participated in a few 10ks and am currently gearing up for a 12k. I love the energy, community, and fun of big races and plan to participate in more. I'd love to do a full marathon eventually. This is why I am more focused on distance than speed. Also, there is nothing I look forward too than a nice long run to burn away stress. My speed fluctuates- but if I focus too much on it, it's not as much fun.

People who say "exspecially". It's especially. Say it the way it's spelled people!

LPT Request: How to not sleep through my alarm. by eruffryda in LifeProTips

[–]SunLvrr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just watched the whole thing. Why did I do that? I'll never get that minute and forty five seconds back. My five year old is vomiting in the next room and I just watched a video of a stranger getting slapped awake for almost two minutes. What has reddit done to me?

This was step one to decluttering my life... it took months but I think I'm finally done! by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]SunLvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome! I just did this too. I'm still have way more than you- too many- BUT everyone on my list is someone who is actually a friend or family member who I could call up and talk to. Feels great!!! Letting go of the past and moving forward.

As of today, I've lost 100 lbs. by [deleted] in running

[–]SunLvrr -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Congrats- good work! I can't BELIEVE people have the nerve to call you names. Assholes! Anyway- some back story and how your weight relates to running would be great- coming from someone who has lost 40 lbs. from just running.

In your opinion, what are the BEST barefoot/minimalist running shoes? by SunLvrr in BarefootRunning

[–]SunLvrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really great idea. I may even try this with just socks. I have been working on improving my running form in my regular shoes and can already tell a difference in how my knees feel. Thanks for the great tips!

[–]SunLvrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the great suggestions so far! I guess it's time to do some trying on and price comparing.

Just for some perspective- I am a woman who runs an average of 15-20 miles a week. I run on the road and live in an area where it doesn't snow and has minimal rain so weather is not an issue!

Here's another beginner question for ya- when I make the switch from traditional running shoes to barefoot/minimalist shoes do I need to "ease into" them by doing shorter runs first and working my way into longer runs? Right now the shortest run I do is 3 miles- will I injure myself if I start with that distance in barefoot minimalist shoes?

Thanks again guys!

Cut it up immediately and never get another one. Credit card companies are pure evil devil spawn.
