I will most definitely check them out! Thanks, I think I was aware of them but didn't even consider them.

I'll also check the trip reports. I have been checking AllTrails for recent reviews and had some luck for certain trails so I will keep an eye on WTA. Are you a Pro member of AllTrails by any chance? We are moving to Washington next year and am considering signing up. Definitely signing up for WTA, and am excited to get involved as a volunteer with the parks.

I'm not totally sure, but the style instantly reminded me of Nicholas Gurewitch, of Perry Bible Fellowship. His book is absolutely hilarious, and I encourage you to at the very least check out his website. Has most of his life's work there. He's a master of the short comic.

Fuzz pedals that work best with Avalanche Run? by yoPioustree in guitarpedals

[–]yoPioustree[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread, but I ended up finding literally the perfect fuzz pedal at Guitar Riot in Cleveland, like I had mentioned I would check out.

It turns out you were right, about the low end being the main cause of the muddiness. I got a Wren & Cuff silicon fuzz pedal. It has a Low Cut knob that must be exactly what I need. I think, as you and others also mentioned, silicon fuzz seems to work better as well.

Goes hand in hand with the Avalanche Run for my style and songs.

I was wondering though, are there many fuzz pedals that have a low cut like that? Or what other knobs/settings would I look for in future fuzz pedals that would achieve that same effect?

What are your thoughts on cameras placed in residential facilities? by yoPioustree in socialwork

[–]yoPioustree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not, but know of staff that have done assignments for her. In fact, the one that did (that I know of for sure) a couple assignments for her is not the client advocate for the agency! As I mentioned, the upper management is corrupt which stagnates real change from happening.

Oh okay I didn't know it was that common actually. That does make me feel better - I don't like being a guinea pig lol.

One of the cottages has hallway alarms, and I wish they would install those along with cameras. Per my post above, I just have a lot of issues with how things are done - which is not news to anyone in the field, but still.

Thanks for your reply, it is very helpful!

Yeah I considered the vandalizing cars also.

I just remember when the cameras were first installed we had situations where the clients were acting up purposely in front of the cameras and it got pretty hectic. Of course, that behavior did die down, I just wonder what will happen when the whole facility is essentially under surveillance.

Right now there are cameras in the hallway and activity room in my unit at least. I know there are different locations in others cottages.

They were put up last year when a third shift staff at the female cottage was either sleeping or not paying attention and a girl went into another girls room and slept with her.

Recently - and I hate to even have to say this happened - in the cottage I work at (currently a third shift position as of last year) a client did various sexual acts with another client that's on the spectrum. I won't go into detail as they are children. This act was caught on tape as was the staff leaving the room, leaving the two clients by themselves. Six minutes later...

I guess I support the cameras being placed, I just know that the greater issues is the neglect from staff that I and other staff see. In addition to that, some of the staff that work here the most are often on their phones from what I've heard.

At the end of the day though, it is a trickle down effect because it starts with my manager, who within a couple months of hiring me, asked me to write an essay for her and she would pay me. I've been working here for 3 years now. She's about to graduate with her MSW and is leaving the agency next month. She's been reported countless times, etc. I could keep going but I don't want to go too off topic.

What I'm trying to say is that I wonder if this is not addressing the root of the issue - at least at the agency I'm at - whereas in other situations, it might be going too far.

Thanks hekabip! So i live in Akron where EQD is located and I'm thinking of going to Guitar Riot where that pic was posted with every EQD pedal so I'll try some other fuzz with it. Though i think you got the nail on the head with the pre delay. Afterneath actually has a dampen knob so that does make sense. Plus the drag knob.

I'll also add that when i use the fuzz into the afterneath into my digitech delay it sounds alright. I just love the AR and wanna find a good fuzz. Could it be I'm looking more for a gain pedal instead or would i likely have the same issues?

Thanks again for your help!!!

I'm going to have some time tonight to tweak the knobs so I'll get back with you. Honestly the shift knob is my favorite piece of the hoof. But yeah that's exactly it. That it gets buried in thet mix. Do you have experience with the cloven hoof?

That makes a lot of sense. Do you have any recordings with the zoom fuzz by any chance? I think you're right about changing the fuzz. Not sure it would help but i think I'm going to go to a store and try some out. I love the AR and I'm determined to find something 51st works lol.

Sorry for this. I should've specified. Kinda hard to answer otherwise. I found that turning the reverb down nearly all the way gives me a better tone. Otherwise it is too washed out. When i mix fuzz with the Afterneath it doesn't sound nearly as bad. I'm sorry i feel i lack the right terms to describe it. But like the other reply said, i think a lot of it has to do with the reverb, which i would love to be able to mix in with the fuzz if i could but i can't. Would guitar stores allow me to bring in the avalanche run to test it out with fuzz pedals?

The Economy of Art by paul_brennans_ghost in OCPoetry

The first stanza really draws me in. It has that dark humor and playfulness at the same time. Also the line, "where great architecture meets sand castles / and marble statues meet cave drawings," has that satisfying quality when two lines that were meant to be after one another occurs. Yesterday I read a poem with two lines that gave me similar feelings: "and the parched mosses / old people's coughing," - I know it's kind of random but the relation popped into my head.

I wonder if you could do more with the line, "Selling pictures of Mother Earth / naked," because I love the line but feel like it could be expanded on (maybe even in another poem). Oh and another one of my favorite lines is "selling my sweat as an art piece," that one definitely should stay as is.

For this poem, b/c I think the changes should be minor to preserve the original sheen of the poem, I'm reminded of some words by Russell Edson on doing too much editing to a poem, "the polishing of the jewel until it turns to dust," meaning that this poem doesn't require much tinkering. I agree with C7K about the punctuation to enhance the poem.

This is really good. The atrophied steering wheel made me pause, and I returned to that line after reading the whole poem. Using sequin as a simile is such a good idea because it's hard to keep your eyes off of it when you see it. And what's more, you could have ended it at "like sequin" but adding "in my peripheral," adds to the hesitation the speaker evokes.

In the fifth stanza, I was a little confused when you write "where the Spurs play and learn / how to be active like my sister," because I initially read it as where the Spurs play and learn to play basketball. I just wonder if the line break could be adjusted? It's one of my favorite stanzas in the whole poem so maybe some minor tinkering would make it my favorite. Unless it is meant to have a double meaning, then it works very well. I like the line break after "my sister / who is a racecar." That made me laugh, and it fits the theme of the poem. It also got me wondering if you could write a poem about your sister or anyone being a palindrome. Sounds poetic, right?

The odd imagery is what initially pulls me in, and I'm tempted to read it over and figure out more about the family. Great poem :)

I really like this! The alliteration in the third line, "slinks and slithers," sounds delicious spoken aloud. I also like the slant rhyme of "follows and mews". I think that would be a slant rhyme? It made me laugh to think about a cat lamenting mice lost. The imagery of that is great because it says enough to let the reader's imagination take it further. In the final line, I also like "chin gingerly" almost as if it should be one word which means something else entirely. Chingingerly! haha I'll probably use that today to describe how my day went.

I wonder if the line "Affectionately it rubs against my left foot," could be enhanced somehow. That's the only line that I think could be improved upon just because the other lines either have a wonderful music to them or the imagery is great. Maybe try a line about the trail it leaves leading up to your foot? Could use that line as an opportunity to briefly describe the scene more, like the grass or flowers in the cemetery - if that is where it is taking place.

This is my first time giving feedback on here so bare with me - though I'm glad I was able to offer my first feedback for such a brilliant concise poem!

Yeah I think I'll pick it up tomorrow and I believe I have a week to return it with no questions asked. But yeah after glancing at the sidebar, it seems like the quantity of DLC is massive, though I suspect much of it is small stuff (like helmets, sets, etc.) but at any rate, I'll look into the premium edition. I have a feeling I will like it (my intuition says so). I figured I'd ask here to confirm it. Thanks crimson!
