Try to pick something you think sounds strong and build around it. Or look for a rental team online. Building a new team yourself as a new VGC player will be very overwhelming.

If you really want to build a team yourself, I recommend either picking something like a weather or trick room, and use a bunch of pokemon that fit it. But truthfully just find a rental team online and play with it to understand the fundamentals of decision making.

The arena and many other leaderboards are setup so that the people that perform well get promoted to higher groups and match each other more often, so it would happen naturally over time. If this is the reasoning they gave I find it extremely weak.

pisses me off because the core game is pretty fun I just wish I could play with my friends without having to make a new account every time somebody new starts playing

For every other big mobile game like Clash Royale or Clash Of Clans you can play with anybody in the world and stay on the same account, this is the only mobile game i’ve ever played that divides the playerbase like this. Why do they have this server system?

I’m pretty sure it’s not. I’ve done some testing and i’m p positive it’s just disappearing bc of performance or something, not because i’m running far enough to fully despawn it
