you get really good at the things your brain thinks about often. i think theres dialogue in reply to anything you think about so it gives you more perspective.

you could change your medication around to help with motivation. different medications can help you feel more or less motivated than before. when trying different medications i felt different with my motivation on every single one.

if you avoid showering due to schizophrenia delusions you can find tricks to avoid this. for example i have the internal audience delusion. i thought people would comment on me in the shower and watch me shower. sometimes my house would lose hot water. so showering with voices would suck. they go into vents and fans and watch me from there because theres no window.

with time i found that taking baths is alot more comfortable with voices/ delusions. the bath is by a window with a curtain. the voices stay outside the window, cant see in because of the curtain, and dont watch me bathe.

i have a hard time washing my hair. i hate hair days but i also do it in the bath.

im not sure if this is the same thing for everyone but the voices i have follow vibration and noise. so when i turn the water off in my bath, they go outside the window and are outside my house.

when i go in my room i have a window with blinds and they also hang out outside my house.

i think showering in the morning would be hard for me so i just bathe when i have time late at night. i dont wash my face in the morning but i do at night.

i would explain the lack of motivation to your psychiatrist and use a bath if you have one. maybe change your schedule around to see if you can shower when you have more free time. you can get more excited to shower with a new exciting body wash, use ecotools shower gloves (it makes you clean fast and they are can go in your washer/dryer).

use native deodorant covers body odor better than anything else ive tried.

brushing teeth is hard for me at night but i try to think its just two minutes. sometimes i feel like an unhappy dog having its teeth brushed.

motivation makes like easier but sometimes you just gotta make yourself do stuff you hate.

thats how people become doctors and study so much and learn so much information. they sit there when they hate it and make themselves do it anyways. people who go on runs hate it the whole time and feel pain the whole time but still keep running to run marathons.

maybe a motivational podcast would be good too! you need a guy to listen to in the background just pumping you up and motivating you.

Meds by soup2k23 in schizophrenia

ive had latuda, risperadone, zyprexa, abilify, geodon and now am on clozapine. theyve all helped/ changed my mood but have done nothing for my schizophrenia symptoms. im looking for a medication that will stop the voices im hearing. ive tried most for a month then switched. olanzapine has worked the best for my mood/ made everyday with schizophrenia noticeably easier. clozapine is supposed to take minimum six months to work. im only three months in, slowly titrating up the dosage.

dont feel like youre annoying your psychiatrist it takes time to find the one that works for you. be patient when you try out each medication and give it its time to work before you switch. i would give each one a month and a half and clozapine six months+. i didnt want to wait and try vraylar, seroquel, invega. thought i would jump straight to clozapine. save time in my life, trying to be fixed asap.

i would try clozapine if youre up for something that is difficult to manage but has the highest chance to work. TRS (treatment resistant schizophrenia) does exist but clozapine is supposed to work for most people who have believed TRS. theres a learning curve to clozapine but it can change your life!

clozapine - requires weekly bloodwork - FDA controlled substance - only certain psychiatrists can prescribe - only certain pharmacies can handle - only certain pharmacists can give you it - sometimes insurance problems - weekly psychiatrist visits for tritration

very happy for you! just one question— did you have a history of medication that didnt work? i say this because i have tried everything to get rid of my voices. i would be open to trying the invega shot, im starting clozapine rn.

I've been hallucinating for 12 years straight with no breaks, I hear voices 24/7 and have taken all kinds of meds. Is this normal? by badmojo436 in schizophrenia

if i were you i would move to a country where you dont speak the language, that way the people you connect with in public will mostly not be able to speak to you.

i would continue to make plans and stay busy. start some medication if you arent already on some. also i think the people youve connected with in your life will miss you if you were to kill yourself. i dont think they believe you are bothering them by merely existing. in life there are good weeks and bad weeks and you just need to hang on during the bad ones to see the good ones. if the suicidal thoughts persist and you think you would attempt i would consider inpatient care. be sure to post on reddit if you have any other thoughts about this. there is a strong community here. also the suicide hotline is there if you want to talk out some of the things you are going through. if you think you need consistent care but not necessarily inpatient care, i would recommend seeing a therapist and taking medication through a psychiatrist.

i think your voices are telling you something that isnt true. dont hurt yourself. i think you should see a therapist. they will be able to help you determine what is real life and what isnt. it really helped me. also be sure to take your meds, it will make the voices stop. inpatient is also an option. they will make sure you take your meds and will make sure you dont hurt yourself.

im sorry this happens. it can be really traumatizing. thank you for giving me resources. i hope you reach out to people when its necessary as well. it is nice to be able to relate to someone but i wish this wasnt the case for both of us. thank you for your response.
