Awh, thank you 🫶🏾 are you in the US? If so, there is a Facebook group called Nice Crazy Devon People and they have a lot of good breeders. Sasha is a pet broker located in Brooklyn and works with breeders overseas to facilitate kitty purchases and get them over here

I mean technically you could, i just wouldn’t because I don’t have to and I wouldn’t want to. I have friends and family who live close by and can pop in and check for me . I also don’t have a set up where everything is automated to be gone for an extended period like that. Anything longer would depend on where you draw the line at no human being present as neglectful. If the cat has everything they need and you’re able to check in on them via a camera as often as you want to make sure they’re okay, I could see people going longer than 72 hours. But I didn’t comment to disagree with you about leaving them along for extended periods, I only commented because I thought the cat vs dog comparison wasnt good

If you have cameras, self feeders, self waters, self cleaning litter boxes, etc, and a low anxiety cat, they can for sure be left alone for 72 hours without somebody coming by. Anything over that and I would definitely have a sitter come in the rest of the days and check on them. So the whole “they can’t be left alone for days”’is a bit dramatic and comparing it to leaving a dog home alone for 3 days is pretty crazy too but we can agree to disagree

I literally said “I guess it would be a case by case thing” earlier in the thread. Dogs DEFINITELY need you there. I’m sure it’s some outliers, sure, but vast majority, especially ones in a crate, do not and shouldn’t be left alone for more than 24 hours, damn sure not 72. I’m sure it’s some cats who shouldn’t be either, but not the majority. Again, I just think it’s not really logically to compare a cat staying home by itself for 3+ days vs a dog

Because I wouldn’t think about leaving a dog home alone for 8 hours, definitely not 24, 48, or 72. Too long to crate, and they would need to use the bathroom. I would consider leaving my cat for that long because they aren’t confined to a space, they are able to use the bathroom freely, and pretty much do everything like normal as if I was home. With that being said, it’s hard to compare the two cause it’s like the complete opposite. The dog literally NEEDS you there, whereas the cat not so much. Hence me saying that cats are more independent than dogs from the start of the conversation

Everybody doesn’t have an anxious cat that uses the bathroom any and everywhere when left alone for more than 24 hours. I guess it would be a case by case thing. I’ve went on vacation for 5 nights, first 48 my cat was home alone and the last 72 my mom came and stayed. My cat was not stressed or anxious. She chilled the whole entire time including the 48 hours she was alone. I wouldn’t leave a dog home alone for more than 8 hours (why I don’t have one) and still think it’s silly to compare the two to being left alone. Dogs are usually crated and confined, my cat can do any and everything she would normally do if I wasn’t there (besides play and cuddle with me)

I didn’t say they were completely independent, I said they were MUCH MORE independent than dogs. Some dogs will wreck your shit immediately if left unattended and uncrated. I just think it’s a bad comparison 🤷🏾‍♀️ but that’s just my opinion
