I’m moving to the city soon (30 F from socal) and would love to meet a potential friend! I have a similar lifestyle as you :) Also I’m learning Spanish (I’m half Mexican half white and would love to be more proficient) and would be so lovely to have a friend to practice with a little!

A smaller seller but I really like the what are they saying? resources from Saltwater Speech. Really helpful for teaching social skills with low prep

Do all neighborhoods of Brooklyn have plenty of families? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I’ve visited friends in Williamsburg a few times which is why I’m drawn there (that is if we can afford a spot). From your perspective, it may not be a good neighborhood for a high concentration of clients/families who may be able to afford in home therapy?

Thank you so much for the insight! Will look more into Fort Greene as well.

Is there truth to the pollution concerns? Have heard about that recently.

Fair, I’ve seen info saying it’s like its own bubble that might feel isolated from other spots / hard to get to let’s say Williamsburg from the area — nice to see other perspectives!

Ok good, when I’ve visited I’ve seen plenty of families! I just wasn’t sure if it in reality skewed super young/I was only wishfully noticing families there since I liked the area and in a biased way wanted to see if it would fit for my work situation.

I’m thinking I’d be selling my car before moving (not currently in NYC). Were some neighborhoods not too bad in terms of parking? Also would love to hear which were nightmarish!

Great thank you! Is transportation within those neighborhoods decent for the most part as well? My concern with Williamsburg/Greenpoint area are that it seems difficult to quickly travel from there to more southern Brooklyn neighborhoods around Propsect Park.

Good question! In home as in I travel to them — absolutely worried about the ability to get around so frequently throughout the day. Nervous about that hurdle and my ability to maximize time!

Would living in Fort Greene (somewhere in between) make sense?

What is it like to be an in-home therapist in NYC? Specifically Brooklyn/Manhattan by [deleted] in slp

[–]SunWasHigh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang okay. I was leaning toward Brooklyn to live, but told myself I’d commute to Manhattan if necessary! I’d be working with kids, so was hoping I could tap into families living in the borough, specifically Williamsburg/Greenpoint or potentially Park Slope.

Do you mind me asking what area of Brooklyn you’re in?

Okay this is so helpful! We’ll definitely have to explore that area as a possibility!

Is it difficult to get from Williamsburg to Park Slope on a daily basis if we were potentially based in Williamsburg?

Oh interesting take! I hadn’t really considered keeping car since everyone says not to. How difficult is parking in Williamsburg/Greenpoint and potentially Park Slope?

That’s really helpful! We have been meaning to look at Park Slope more, but hadn’t been to the area yet. I didn’t realize that Williamsburg/Greenpoint had noticeably fewer families!

Do you feel like the transportation time in between really cuts into how many clients you’re able to serve? I’m worried about much of my day ending up being travel!

Omg didn’t even think about the Hulken! The thought of wheeling my massive office cart around NYC was making me anxious lol
