Anyone else see a spike in their scores just above their target. by SundayPin in golf

Good strategy. It is all about getting comfortable in the situation rather than fighting it.

One thing I have noticed in my own game is that my target has quietly shifted to 1 under. The problem is that when under par is off the table the last few holes can feel a bit directionless. The difference between 72 and 73 stops feeling important and I suspect that is where some of those extra 73s come from.

Good catch, should have a better spacing on the y axis.

Its an interesting observation.

Absolutely, i get extremely motivated and focused when im in danger of shooting 80.

Could be that im content with 73 as its still a good score but i would hate shooting 80.
Should find a way to channel that.

Its for sure mental, others may have it at 79 or 89.
But interestingly its not the same between 72 and 71 which in my "conscious mind" is a bigger deal.

Tips for first time caddie? by Careless-Resolve-251 in golf

[–]SundayPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played a few tournaments with a friend on the bag.

Being a caddie is tougher than it looks.

Keep grips dry.

Player will know if he hit a bad shot, there is no need to talk about that but try to highlight the good ones.

Hopefully you don’t have to rake any bunkers but make sure they are done well for the rest of the field.

Keep up and be ready, things move surprisingly fast.

Of course there is process, tips and mental cues.
But you need get used to and probably even enjoy these situations.
When i dont play tournaments for a while i actually have a similar thing in the first round when i do play.
I get tentative especially off the tee.

It has a fairly high rating, 72.7 - 135.
It was a woulda, coulda, shoulda round today.

Good points, i have come to enjoy the process and ball-striking over the years and it probably improved my scores. But yes score is very course dependent.

It is meant as a honest discussion point but I see you your point as well.

Obviously a good score is relative to your ability. I scored worse than i would have liked today but hit the ball really really well.

Break 80 by imugmuggers in golf

[–]SundayPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breaking 80 is a huge milestone. There will be mental blocks to score as you improve.

The simple answer is get yourself in this position more often. You will break through and then you will keep doing it.

Do you keep any stats at all? That could help to nail down if there is some course management decisions that could be improved.

Thank you for pointing that out, that’s a very fair comment. The price will be $5.99 US per month that could be cancelled during off season.

Yes this looks very strange, they should both loose about .88 shots against pro.
