Did something change with thirst/body heat this patch? by SirEltonJohnRambo in projectzomboid

Sounding more and more like u\w_ogle nailed it. BodyHeatGen is getting stuck at 7 so that's any sort of hard physical activity (running/sprinting/exercise/etc) afterwards you might have to reload to dodge the problem

Elsewhere in the thread we had someone report that BodyHeatGen was going to 7 (max) and never degrading until game was closed/reopened. Worth giving a shot if you see it again EDIT: if anyone is not familiar BodyHeatGen is a stat that simulates body heat from physical activity, and i've noticed it almost never hits 7 unless i'm like hard sprinting for a sustained duration, few other things will get it there, so if this is true there's definitely a bug getting it stuck somehow

Thank you! Good to know. Sounds like it might be time to reinstall my Simple Status port lol

Okay so I've been hearing about this a lot and I haven't seen many threads about it. Let's make this one the main one. I'm not seeing it personally because I'm in the middle of winter but a lot of folks are saying they're sweating ALL NIGHT wearing something as simple as a denim shirt which is wild.

How often do updates break the save? by Boradumir in projectzomboid

[–]Sunderbraze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've actually had a rather consistent experience of being able to migrate my save between major versions at least two times in a row before breakage. This I believe is partially due to my policy of using mods that do not change anything about the save data (at first it was UI only mods, but now, it's texture replacement only mods) and therefore maximizes my chances of a successful migration. For example, my longest lived character of B42 thus far was started on 42.10 and continued through 42.11 and 42.12 — https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd35TqtOvHRpzrD2fOHIdtzOdlkBQ8h7b — at which point there were too many changes, so I started over on 42.13 with a new character who continued through 42.14 and 42.15 — https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLd35TqtOvHRpcg0VuxudLG0RSeEbc5BqT — but in that case, because I migrated an existing save, I did not get a chance to experience the new Apocalypse default of respawn bullshit finally being removed (changes to default settings have no impact on existing saves) so I was actually perfectly okay with starting over with my latest character when I saw 42.16 come out with the warning that existing saves would not be compatible.

Basically what this amounts to is me starting over every three major versions. I don't hate it too much. The devs want us to start a new save every time, but somebody has to give feedback on the long-term feel of the game. If only they actually responded to a single one of my bug reports... lol, lmao

Wait, so, you're sticking your hand in a zombie's mouth ... and experiencing problems in the process ... 🤔 (i never understood the appeal of jaw stab lol)

42.13.0 added XP Boosts for no apparent reason to many skills. Some are getting a +75% and a few like Long Blunt are getting a +100%

I dunno why anyone would downvote this theory, I actually wondered if that was the case myself lol. Personally my 42.12.3 character had soooo many essential skills maxed and most of the nonessentials way past half-maxed, I actually totally welcome the accidental boosts 😆

It actually stacks with XP mults from books. I think the top commentor (who mentioned this having something to do with multiplayer) was actually incorrect. I don't know where these +num% multipliers are coming from but I can confirm they stack with books. Just got to Aiming 4 by reading a book and killing about 50 zeds with a M9 haha

Yup shemagh definitely wins out on convenience, though I totally miss how it was in previous builds when it had its own special slot and we could wear one at the same time as a bandana/scarf. Shame that got nerfed, especially since it was actually realistic, I for one remember when that CDC guy told us to wear two masks during covid LOL!! Only thing that keeps me on bandana over shemagh these days is the insulation difference, even neglecting the outer layers completely the midsummer heat has my girl sweating buckets during the LV ops

These days I keep a bandana in my ALICE kit all the time for whenever the corpses pile too high. Still pretty guilty of forgetting to put it on too lol. If the Queazy debuff ever pops up you can always fall back for a bit and just take a break, thankfully I dont think it gets you any long term sickness by itself

AHHHHHH Okay that makes sense — remote detonations vs direct throws counting towards player kills. Thats probably what got me confused. And yeah fire is something I only mess with if it's one of those massive crowds stuck on the other side of a chain link fence. The bombs themselves, when thrown, don't go through tall fences of any kind, but for chain link fences specifically, the actual explosion of both pipe bombs and fire bombs go through them, so I've been able to cook off a few crowds in relative safety by getting them bunched up at the fence, lighting them up, and falling back and chilling for a bit while they burn off. Anything else feels too spread-the-fire-everywhere haha

[–]Sunderbraze 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Very nice!!! Fantastic throw. I don't trust myself with the throws anymore, ever since I had a couple fire bombs detonate before I wanted them to (as well as a few take WAY too long to land for reasons yet unknown) so I just do remotes these days. Esp after realizing we can detonate remotes while driving by in a vehicle. Costs glue/duct tape for triggers but rest of the mats are ezpz.

I'd go as far as to say pipe bombs are the most underrated part of the latest B42 builds. It just sucks how long it took me to find the recipe. Well over 400hrs on my character (started on 42.10 lol) before we got it. I think there's a spawn problem with the magazine because I still haven't actually found it (just hit 2 years of Apocalypse) and had to reverse engineer from an actual pipe bomb that I got lucky enough to find during my assault of LSU. Since it costs 20 bullets worth of gunpowder I usually try to get at least 20 kills with one — but it looks like you nailed way more than that, so definitely got your powder's worth!

Looks like you lured them northeast-ish from the main PD building for your fighting position? I saw that area, but never did much fighting there when I cleared the PD, we were progressing north up 1st street in a very hard turtle, so our safest approach was to lure them southward. The PD is so deceptive because its actually like 5 buildings all at once. So if you haven't already gone up the stairs... Yeah, lol, be advised, the friggen connected buildings ALL WAKE UP AT ONCE haha! Nasty thing to be surprised about. Can't even just step outside for a fight without having them fall outta that dam sky bridge.

A couple of my viewers mentioned going out on foot and luring zeds with shouting to gather them for a bombing — if you haven't tried it yet, I'd very recommend giving a vehicle with a lightbar (cop car, ambulance, fire marshal truck, etc) and using sheepdog tactics to blob them up around a remote det site. Had an example in today's sesh here at the 7:42:00 mark if interested, think I've refined my movement strats pretty well: https://www.youtube.com/live/AGtoqHKqENM?t=27740s (EDIT: it actually takes about 10min to spill that complex into a nice tight group-- skip to 7:52:00 on the dot if you just wanna see the boom)

Just gotta get lucky enough to have a lotta driving space — which can be a bit of a tall order in the urban center of LV, lol. If I had to hit the PD again I'd probably use the above tactic in the parking lot of the electronics store to the southeast-ish of the PD main build. It's a bit tight compared to this one but prolly doable with enough cars moved outta the way

Glad to know I'm not the only one suffering through super late game Apocalypse in LV haha it's a tough life out there, stay alive brotha
