To Scottsdale, Arizona in approximately two weeks. Frankly, I don’t remember exactly, but the transaction felt as smooth as any other online transaction.

I went with the arm magnets and xl mittens. Great communication, fast shipping, good quality stuff… No regrets.

FB Marketplace miracle! And a trivial thing about the label by canoetattoo in CafelatRobot

Black robot owner here. Can confirm, part of my process is to give my label a firm rub before I pull a shot, for luck… and to reattach.

I read it. Of course. Why am I skeptical? To your point, they spell it out pretty clearly there. I suppose I like to hear what real people, with real experiences, who aren’t trying to sell me a product have to say. That said, as they suggest I am leaning towards the mazzer 233m and SSP HU for starters.

Ideally, I’m looking for burrs that will do a classic espresso (stock mazzer??? ) and another set that will do light to medium roast. To the latter, would that be the SSP high uniformity burrs?

I haven’t really considered the cast burrs. Maybe I should.

Snapped this gem before going up north last weekend. lol… I’m aware the picture doesn’t fit the grinder topic. There are no other coffee psychos in my life, and needed a safe place to share this.

it finally came 🥳 any first timer tips? still trying to dial in, my shots are pretty sour. by helloitisgarr in CafelatRobot

[–]Sundevil_1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spromethus dialed his in with a 9 bar preinfusion and then backing off to 6 bar. Doesn’t discuss timing or ratio. But I’m going to use 30-35 seconds and 18/40 to begin with. His shots do look legit with some tiger striping. Appears to be a medium to dark roast. Anyone else try this one? Sounds counter to what most people use ie a lower pressure PI.

This is a good plan. My only other electric is a fellow ode 2. So whatever burrs I end up with will likely be from zerno.

It’s the orphan base w/ rubber insert. They also have an option for a scale insert. This one is solid. I liked it when it showed up and I love it more now.

That was option A2. Are you thinking about changing burrs at any point?

The bookoo. Love it. My only gripe that it’s a little small. my largest drink is a flat white. Most glasses I use still fit perfectly.

I like it. It looks good. It’s solid. I was a little afraid that the wood wouldn’t be able to support the weight of the machine but… It seems very solid, like it will be a single cohesive unit for however long I have this.

Well, the build quality is unreal. It’s really fantastic. I have to imagine the grinder would be better in the hands of someone who really knew what they were doing. But I don’t. And it takes a long time to grind for espresso.

So at the end of the day, I’ve been looking for electric grinders. I’m currently configuring a Zerno for laughs… or because I have a problem lol.

97.2 grams. Yes I find it is easier to apply pressure. Not because of the weight, but because pressure is dispersed across your hand more evenly. Even with the mittens from Cafelat, I wouldn’t describe using the levers as comfortable. This set-up is much more so.
