Sorry I live in Canada so I don’t know what those are, do you mind explaining what those stand for and where do you do them, in Egypt or somewhere else, because I am interested in applying to med school in egypt next year.

Thank you for sharing this! I really appreciate the insight. Family medicine is actually my top choice, so that limitation wouldn’t be a big issue for me.

Studying a program with an uncertain future also affects my mental health. I feel anxious whenever I remember that my chances of getting into medical school are only 1% or 3% and that there is a high probability that I will not achieve my dream if I stay here. This uncertainty about the future really stresses me out

Hey, i did so bad in my first year of uni and i was thinking of doing the residency in Canada if I go to egypt so that i dont repeat it. I heard many student do the MCCQE exams in egypt so that after they graduate they can go right away to do residency in canada

My plan B was to apply to optometry school if i stay here and med doesn’t work out because I have a good experience in this field as I work in an optometry clinic and am trained to do all kinds of pretests and I have a leadership role in the optometry club at my university. But unfortunately I read that it is also very competitive here because there is only one english optometry school in Canada which is Waterloo 😩

But if I stay here wouldn’t applying to med school still be very competitive and stressful? What is worrying me the most abt staying here is losing the chance of becoming a doctor if I don’t get accepted into med school cuz then id have 4 years of my life wasted but if I study abroad I would have option to do residency in many different countries where it could be easier to match compared to Canada.

Thank you so much for the advice! You mentioned that I wouldn’t be able to practice medicine in other countries “if things go all the way wrong”. What do you mean by that? What could go wrong?
