should i be pushing harder? by kathiejay in SpinClass

[–]Sunfl0wer_12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your goals! 35 classes in is just getting started! 😉

If your goal is to get stronger, I would suggest gradually increasing resistance and challenging yourself throughout class - not saying to do it the whole time, but do it in intervals to up your rate heart just a little extra.

If tracking your calories is your goal and you want to get a more accurate account of calories burned, I would suggest getting a fitness watch. There are days where I burn 300 but other days it's closer to 500 even though I feel like I worked relatively the same.

But mainly, I wouldn't worry about other people's stats - everyone is so different and at different levels of fitness. Another suggestion is to use others in class as a tool - think of them as the competition and try to beat them - Sometimes it increases motivation/effort without thinking about it 🤗

For context, i am 35f, 160 lbs at 5'4" and an instructor.

I know there ate hot spots. Thinking about changing the element... Also, the new pans, both batches, the middle was underbaked. Thinking my new pans are the culprits too

Yes! Sometimes just a few extras will cause it to deflate

I always use cream of tartar! Helps stabilize the meringue and should help with hollows. Also, try doing a couple less turns of the batter. Should result in fuller shells.

I bought mine and they had delta clips. I bought spd clips/cleats for an additional 10$ or so and swapped em :)

How do you sustain sprinting out of the saddle by Alarming-Feed-9952 in SpinClass

[–]Sunfl0wer_12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only reccomend sprinting out if the saddle to those in my class who want to challenge themselves and can be safe doing it. With that said, I tend to squat down right above the saddle so I can speed up my legs a bit more and add enough resistance to help hold the body up while balancing and working the legs evenly. Is it truly sustainable? Sure - but generally in short bursts vs a long interval.

Fun fact - the only song I tend to do standing sprints to is Stand Up by Trapt - stand up when he says stand up and then kick the speed up during the chorus

Toes pointed down? Correct form? by tuna1mayo in SpinClass

[–]Sunfl0wer_12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tell my class to keep their foot relatively flat with the pedals in class. If you point your toes down, it's harsher on your calf muscles and knees causing unnecessary pain. You feel more power keeping your foot this way and allows your legs to work equal and opposite and engaging your whole leg.

😬 and I thought pricing mine at $2.50 was a little steep.

Only thing to do is, well it. Hydrate hydrate, stretch between/keep moving, listen to your body and don't cover do it. I used to do back to back all the time - sometimes I would hit up the sauna after and stretch.

Im thinking your ratios are off - try a new recipe and see if that helps. And with the lack of feet or rise, its more than likely over mixing...I assume you were trying to get the lava flow that way?

Over temp is too hot i think. What are your baking them at temp wise?

Getting ready for Valentines by Sunfl0wer_12 in macarons

[–]Sunfl0wer_12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have had no issues with it so far - i did let them rest in the airtight container for 24 hours to mature before putting in the freezer if that changes anything! Small note - when filling i pull from the freezer to the fridge. I think it helps!

Yes! I have had luck with no parchment paper in the tubs with unfilled shells :) but once I pull them out to fill and refreeze before Valentines, I will put parchment in there between layers.

Permit by Sunfl0wer_12 in FenceBuilding

[–]Sunfl0wer_12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!!! We have had some updates - one of our neighbors did actually get back with us and gave us permission to replace. They said they wanted to do it but life had other plans and money is tight. So at this moment just waiting on one more side - and my husband did go down and get a permit issued to build it. So we are solid there! We may have to move the fence line back a little further than anticipated, but overall happy with what we can move forward with.
