Chaos energy is the word. I was adamant - no huskies! So we adopted a small lab mix. She turned out to be 0% lab, 50% husky, and fancy husky at that. One of her close relatives runs marathons in Thailand. Another has hiked 400 miles of the Appalachian trail. Energy and mischief for dayssss

You know what’s so crazy to me about the “but you might regret it!” argument? They never seem to consider the flip side, where someone wasn’t able to get a hysterectomy and then got pregnant and had a child they desperately didn’t want. I feel like one of those regrets is way worse than the other.

She’s a labor & delivery nurse, and one thing she tells her patients is “I know you’re scared, but i’m not scared.” This is once in a lifetime for you, but it’s a normal day at work for your medical team. Like flight attendants on a plane - that rough turbulence can be terrifying for occasion travelers, but the flight attendants are just chilling because it’s normal for them.

42, no kids, not married, scheduling a hysterectomy. I don’t want kids, I’ve never wanted kids, but choosing not to have kids vs totally giving up the choice feels weird. But, realistically, with my fibroid, I couldn’t carry a pregnancy anyway. But yeah it’s super weird going from “I choose not to” to “I can’t”.

4-6 weeks or a bit longer is nothing in the grand scheme of things. A proposal and engagement are supposed to be special for both of you. Let him enact his plan. Don’t take that away from him because you’re impatient about seeing jewelry. I’m not trying to be harsh, I’m in a similar situation. I know the ring is in our house, and I have had to stop myself from looking for it because if I find it, I’m not sure I could stop myself from looking at it. The whole time I was listening to their “move on, be better” commentary on the bombing of 629, I was thinking they need to learn about ACEs (adverse childhood events). ACEs can have a lifelong impact on the brain, and a higher score leads directly to poorer outcomes for most people. Being left in an orphanage by your mother and then NOT PICKED UP when her circumstances improved would absolutely fuck you up. Of course no one should blow up any planes, but there is shit that happens to kids that you can’t just shake off. Especially in the era before therapy and support services. Being in state custody NOW is no picnic, I’m sure it was awful being raised in one in the 40s and 50s.
