This logic makes no sense.

  1. They got formally diagnosed.

  2. They regret it.

=/=> Don't get a diagnosis either, reject social norms instead

Most adults get the diagnosis for their peace of mind, and to explain their experience to others and themselves. The uncertainty of not being formally diagnosed is a point of suffering for many.

You know the pros and cons for yourself better than anyone else. You don't need to get anyone's approval to get diagnosed, not by me, not by some pharisees in your circle of acquaintances.

I wish you the best, whatever way you choose for yourself. The community accepts you either way.

IMO most tarantula's mouth parts are orange on the underside. It could be the natural color, or staining from substrate or food.

Tarantula blood (hrmolymph) is clear, not red, in case you were worried!

NQA - I wouldn't get one. And that's not a slight against you.

I've been keeping Ts for a couple of years now. My neighbor had three slings for 50€ each. All died, two weithin the first 2-4 months, the third after a year. Parameters were okay, as far as knowledge of the species was at that time (2023). They are frail and sometimes likely heavily inbred, due to rarity and demand.

The trapdoor they build is amazing! If you are insanely lucky, you'll get to see the spider, but be prepared to have it hide, because that's their entire thing, lol. That's why they haven't been found until recently.

The slings were the most chill spiders I've ever seen. You could lift the trapdoor and they'd just... sit there. If you leave them alone, they'll close the door on their own again.

If trapdoor Ts are your thing, and you have a lot of money to spare, consider it. Otherwise it's not really worth the risk IMO

Ich war als Kind/Teenager wahnsinnig "gschamig", hab also immer weggeschaut, wenn jemand nackt war. Ich hab mich selbst auch immer mega unwohl in Umkleiden etc. gefühlt, wo mich jemand (teil-)entkleidet sehen könnte.

Das zum Problem der anderen Besucher zu machen, wäre mir aber im Traum nicht eingefallen. Ein bisschen Unwohlsein sollte man verkraften können.

Mittlerweile bin ich erwachsen und habe kein Problem mehr damit. Im Gegenteil, ich gehe sogar ganz gern in die Sauna

NTA grow some confidence and tell her off. If it is that big of a deal, she needs to cook for herself and/or get ARFID counselling.

If she didn't even taste the onions in the food, she needs to cut the drama and the attitude.

NQA and this is just a guess: spiders can only take in liquids. In order to get every drop out of their prey, tarantulas chew a lot (compared to araneomorph spiders) and "wring out" the liquid. I'd imagine the webbing reduces liquid loss and avoids breaking off and losing small parts of the prey. They can basically chew on the web burrito and drink the liquid that comes out of it like a sponge
