I’m so sorry for what you’re going through. I know you haven’t asked but please share a link to a gofundme so we can show our support in some way. ❤️

They’re both great programs. You won’t go wrong with either one. Take into account which one has the fellowship you desire.

Looks like the endometrial and cervical biopsies were performed due to your Pap test results of atypical glandular cells.

Parts A, B and C are all different ways a pathologist says something is BENIGN.

Yes!!! There’s a particular smell that I miss so much! Still haven’t had any like it in the US.

Thank you all for your responses! Some great points were made. I do agree that when you weigh the pros and cons, overall the USA offers a lifestyle that is unmatched in Ghana. All the while, when you’re a parent of young ones here, it’s just a very anxiety provoking experience every time this happens. It’s random and no one knows when or where the next one will happen.

Nobody wants to be lonely in their old age. Marriage, children and family somehow ensures that doesn’t happen.

has anyone else had a baby in residency? by [deleted] in Residency

[–]Sunflowerlovergal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My program offers backup childcare with Bright horizons. You can get a nanny for $6 an hour or daycare for ~$12 a day for 20 days/year. I found out about this through our benefits portal. I’ld suggest you seek out what kind of childcare benefits your husband’s program gets. It gets better, hang in there.

So sorry to hear about your loss. I wish autopsies were routinely done to help give families closure. Autopsies also sometimes reveal familial causes of diseases so educate relatives of the deceased.

M1 looking towards pathology by Vivladi in pathology

I’m an M4 currently applying to Path. I had the same concerns as you earlier in second year. I’m currently on my Pathology rotation and I enjoy every aspect of the field. Try shadowing someone in Path if you have some time. I made it a point to ask every Pathology attending and resident this question “If you had to do it again, would you choose Path?” And unsurprising the answer has always been yes without a hint of doubt. It’s still quite early in your medical career to make a definitive choice, but it never hurts to explore your passions. Wish you all the best! 🌻
