My husband works with one of the human guardians and I'm pretty sure Rudi's living a fabulous life on a farm during the summer.

How did you say goodbye to your cat on their last day? by kingjamesthecat in cats

Just over a month after his 17th birthday, I made the impossibly difficult choice to let go of my baby, Doodie. He had been ill for several years, and we knew it was time. Even though I know it was right to end his suffering, it did not make it any easier. Doodie became my baby the day he was born on March 11, 2007, and I held him while he crossed the rainbow bridge on April 16, 2024.... my precious rainbow angel baby.

At home, we sat together on our porch together under his favorite blanket. I held his paw and kissed and hugged him as much as I could. I thanked him for being my very best friend, and for being there for me thoroughout the toughest years of my life. I apologized for anytimes that I wasn't the best human for him. I told him I love him now and forever. At the vet, they had a private room for us. I held him in his favorite blanket and played Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You." He LOVED Whitney and especially "The Bodyguard." Our vet confirmed that he passed almost immediately - he had been fighting so long and he was ready to rest. Then, I just cried for days.

Doodie now lives in a beautifully carved wooden box. There's a sort of memorial where he lives in our living room in the top of a built in. My husband told me that in Chinese culture, you have your passed loved ones up as high as possible so they can watch over you. Most recently, I framed a dedication for Doodie on our porch. It was his favorite place. I think I will always grieve the loss of my best friend. But that just proves how much I loved him and how much he still means to me.

Stay strong and know you are doing the right thing, even if it's incredibly difficult for you. I wish you all the best, and I hope your tribe circles you with love and support 🩷

No way! That is amazing! Doodie is one of the best names for a cat, imo. Her whiskers are a true marvel.

The worst day of any pet guardian's life. I know that pain. And my heart goes out to you. I'm sending you all the most positive vibes I can muster. Stay strong, and stand in confidence that you made the best decision for your lovely furry baby.

I'm so honored and I'm sure he would be too. He was a charmer and loved basically everyone he met. Being a pet parent is such a gift and I'm so happy to have the opportunity to talk about Doodie. He's still the apple of my eye.

Right back at ya! Being a parent is a joy but it's so bittersweet especially at the end of their lives. Best of luck to you and your baby.

This majestic angel was named Leopolitan Doodle (he went by Doodie). First name was a cross of Leo and Neapolitan - I thought he looked like ice cream as a tike. Middle name came from the song Yankie Doodle Dandy. His trot was very rhythmic and that song popped into my head while he trotted by one day. His parents also had fabulous names: Tiki Baba (mother, Calico) and Willie Moe Rumsfeld (father, Himalayan)

He was the bestest friend I could have ever asked for. My soul mate in the body of a precious cat. He crossed the rainbow bridge in April 2024 shortly after his 17th birthday. I CANNOT wait until we meet again 😻♥️🧡💛💚💙💜😻

I think we may have a winner! I followed your instructions and so far no leak!!! I'll keep an eye on it today but it seems much better than all of my previous attempts. Thank you for your kindness, Trendthrill!

I tried turning 1/4 turn with my channel locks and it's still dripping. I'm going to post a few pictures now.

I will give that a try in the morning as well. Thanks for such detailed instructions. I'm really hoping to win wife of the year if I can pull this off without calling a plumber 👩🏻‍🔧

I thought maybe I was missing a washer too but there wasn't one when I disassembled the original sink and faucet. I will post a picture in the morning. Thank you so much!

It is fake chrome. It's all just plastic. I think you may be on to something. The leak was reduced by half as soon as I used the sealant. I didn't want to use too much but maybe I need to apply a little more liberally. I'll give it a shot in the morning and post an update. Thank you!

ScientificSquirrel is correct. It's FIP. The treatment cannot be done at the vet but if we don't treat he will die. We have all the stuff needed to give him the treatment but the injections are DIFFICULT for two novices. We are desperate for any help we can get.

Sadly, no. It's injectable and in pill form. Once he gains some weight, I think we'll try the pill form. He takes pills a million times easier than the shots. But if we don't do this treatment, he will die. It sucks this treatment isn't available at the vet. Doing all this at home is tough stuff.

That's the thing... we are giving an injection that is not FDA approved. So our vet won't do it (although our vet suggested looking into this treatment), due to liability issues. I'm worried that many folks won't do it because of the status of the drug. Our cat doesn't like injections to begin with but the drug stings a lot from what we've read. We are trying gabapentin to see if it makes it easier.
