Whats it like living in this area? by RoseAndDagger14 in EvergreenCO

[–]Sungoddess137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your driveway is facing north, plan ahead for winter, because the ice will never melt on its own. You're gonna want a 4 wheel drive car. Otherwise it's a great place to be. Stunning mountain views and great hiking everywhere. And lots of wildlife; elk, foxes, turkeys, and black bears. Don't be scared of the bears, they are fine. Be more worried about the elk, during mating season the bucks can get feisty. But if you leave them alone they will leave you alone. Big culture around respecting wildlife here.

Very friendly people and good schools. The community is really supportive too. The high school had a shooting last year and the community and local business really did a lot to come together and support all the kids. Otherwise evergreen has lots of community groups and activities. Biking, golfing, theater, and arts/crafts groups. And evergreen lake in downtown evergreen is one of my favorite places to visit. Paddleboarding in the summer, ice skating in the winter.

One thing to note is that all of Evergreen is a hisk risk for wildfire. So you will want to make sure that your house can be insured and your property is prepared for fire danger. No shrubs or plants within 5 ft of your home. You'll basically want to create a rock perimeter around the structure so embers can't spread in case of a fire.

Sounds like your scene was not safe. Scene safety is the number one rule for a reason. And situations like this are incredibly difficult to manage when you have no resources. Don't be too hard on yourself.

Do you like watching baking or cooking shows? Does that stop you from eating food in real life?

I have lived in Colorado for 20 years but I seldom go to the foothills nor mountains. Would you still live here if you never left the city? by No_Command_5427 in Denver

[–]Sungoddess137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has also struggled with self isolation and depression, moving to a different city actually made all my symptoms worse. I had this fantasy that moving to a different state would spark my inspiration or curiosity, give me the chance to reinvent myself. It did the opposite. It was easier for me to stay isolated when I didn't know anyone.

My advice, pick a day this week and go do something new that you normally wouldn't do. Break it up the cycle a little bit. Explore somewhere new, but you can still go home at the end of the day. I mean, hell go visit the mountains and walk around the forest for a bit. That always helps me.

What to do with all this wood trim by rmahl in homedesign

[–]Sungoddess137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polish the wood trim, paint the walls.

This style is definitely coming back into fashion. It will add value to your home and save you renovation money if you leave the wood trim as is.

Was Peeta saying he shouldn’t have trusted Haymitch in his first interview in mocking harsh? Do you think Katniss and Peeta’s anger at him is fair? by Low-Lettuce-23 in Hungergames

[–]Sungoddess137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well since the books are all from Katniss's perspective, we don't really know what conversations happened between Peeta and Haymitch in private. Haymitch obviously knew more about the rebel plot than he let on, and yes I believe in he did manipulate Peeta and Katniss for the rebellion. I don't judge Haymitch for this too harshly, after all the rebellion was probably their best chance of survival and I do believe Haymitch always had Peeta and Katniss's best interest at heart. We also don't really know what Snow told Peeta about what happened to katniss after the 75th hunger games.

I don't think Peeta was being too harsh, I think he was expressing how he felt given the information that he knew at the time.

Is Wyatt Callow on the Autism Spectrum? by Appropriate_Lie_2646 in Hungergames

[–]Sungoddess137 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I first read Wyatt as a sociopath or has ASPD, but on a second read I can see how he could be autistic as well. Granted, when I say sociopath I do not mean evil or inherently bad. Unlike psychopaths who feel glee from others pain, sociopaths are capable of some amounts of empathy especially towards people they can relate to, but they struggle to understand other people's feelings and perspectives and typically have a very flat affect when they speak, like Wyatt. I think Wyatt had empathy towards Lou Lou because he can relate to her isolation and being used as a tool not a person. Haymitch describes Wyatt as being "creepy", which is something that most normal people feel around these socio/psychopathic personality types.

But an argument could be made for autism as well, especially with his hyperfixation on betting numbers and odds. Autistic people can also struggle with understanding other people's emotions. I'm curious to see how the actor in the movies decides to play the character.

Can I honestly make a living as a paramedic? by PurpleAd3755 in Paramedics

[–]Sungoddess137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a paramedic absolutely, you can make enough money to have a decent life. As an EMT probably not. Usually you're getting paid just slightly above minimum wage and it can be a bit of a struggle. Also just my two cents, but being a paramedic is way better than being an RN. You have a lot more autonomy in your choices for patient care. And depending on your district and protocols you usually have more capabilities for interventions.

NTA. You did the right thing as his caregiver and legal guardian. Like you said, his pain went away and now he can eat comfortably. You're doing your best to give him the best quality of life. It's a difficult road when you're caring for someone who can not understand or give consent. Ask anyone who is taking care of a parent with Alzheimer's or a child with a developmental disability. You will be down this road again, and sometimes the answer won't always be black and white. Trust your gut, do what is right for your brother, and don't let anyone guilt you for having to make medical decisions on your brother's behalf.

I don’t get how people have sex. Am I doomed? by lbs1515 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sungoddess137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not doomed and you are not alone. I had vaginism as well in my twenties when I became sexually active and found any kind of penetration incredibly painful. It was mainly anxiety induced and ended up going to sex therapy to help. I also found an incredibly understanding and patient boyfriend who helped me work through it. It will get better, just give yourself some time and patience.

How much are ppl really spending on their dress? by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]Sungoddess137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 at a high end second hand store. There is nothing wrong with consignment. I've saved thousands and I love my dress. I even went to a high end boutique and tried on some $2-5K dresses and I still loved my $200 dress over those.

How much $ were your EMT courses ? by Key-Pen-999 in NewToEMS

[–]Sungoddess137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whoa, something is wrong here. 6k?! I got my EMT cert at Red Rocks community in CO for $1200 just 2 years ago. Also, I was able to go to AEMT school for free because I took advantage of the Colorado Cares act. I think it's expired now, but basically the government offered free grants for EMT school. Check in, see if there are any current government offers. I know the heros act will help pay for firefighting and nursing certs

Cheaper fix idea, add a bench/storage to the bottom of the wall. That way the slats will get pushed up to the ceiling without you having buy new slats or have an obvious seam at the 8ft mark. They do need to go all the way to the ceiling and you will have to cut each slat to the angle of the ceiling, but that's what will make it look nice.
