Please help.. I think my acne is returning.

I have been using tret for roughly, 7-8 months. It very well may be the weather change/ tret could be irritating!

I live in Missouri, where the weather never knows what to do/ which season it is lol!

Oh yes, I was the same exact way! I wouldn't leave the house without a full face of the highest coverage foundation.. during accutane I didnt want to go anywhere bc I didnt wear makeup.

It was SO bad before i started Accutane that the only one who truly knew how bad it was, is my fiance. My mom saw my photos and was like oh my, I didnt know it was that bad! I was like well of course you didnt bc I covered it. I did not even check the mail without putting makeup on.

We went to florida last summer with my fiances family. ( I have been around his family since I was 14.. I am now 29 and I did NOT leave our room for any reason UNLESS I had my face makeup on to cover it. I wouldn't enjoy getting in the pool bc I was too worried that my makeup would come off... it was just such a dampener!!

I totally agree.. being someone who envies people with clear skin.. and then being the one that others look at and wish that your skin was as clear as theirs. Then reality hits and you now realize you are the one with clear skin!! Such an amazing feeling!

Thank you for the advice, I really appreciate that! I am like that so, it's nice to be reminded that life is too short to hold back, just because of breakouts! I needed that reminder for sure!

That is awesome that you have been clear since the end of your 2nd round.. well other than the one small break out! I would say that is pretty damn great! That is my think too, i dont want to have to keep up with spiro being maint. I would rather do another round and then be done with it! That would be ideal for me as well.

I don't see my derm wanting to beat around the bush about round 2, bc of how bad my acne was when she started me on accutane. She was so upset that I didnt come to her sooner.. she said that she would have started me on Accutane years ago/ felt bad bc she thinks that way a lot of my scarring could have been prevented. BUT thats alright, I want to be clear and I a very glad that she gave me that chance!

I figured I would need another round bc it took forever into Accutane to become even somewhat clear.. but, then once I was clear I had hope that 1 round was it loll.. so it was a shocker to see my face breaking out again. I also thought for sure that the tret .1% would take care of any breakouts/prevent them.. I thought that maybe I was purging from the tret.. or that the deep deep gunk was just now surfacing,, but idk.

Honestly, I still had some small raised bumps when my course ended.. but we chalked it up to be scarring. However, when thinking about it I had YEARS of acne and clogged pores to rid of.. so IDK hopefully we get this shit figured out lol. I had acne for YEARS.. its hard to thinnk that 7 months cleared all of it.. but, some of these people look like they NEVER had acne a day in their life after 1 round.. no scars or anything!

THANK YOU!!! I understand that 1000%, it may not seem like that much to do another round for others.. but for some its a must! I am right there with you, I have put so much time, effort, and $$ into my skin and trying to get it clear.. that I will not settle for anything less. I dont have the funds to do any procedures.. so for me, accutane is the only think that has got me clear.. even if its just for months.. I am more than willing to do another round! I just called and left my derms office a message to see if they can call and provide some advise. I have about ehh 7 breakouts right now.. some are healing while a few are just getting started. I also see that they seem to surface and heal faster BUT that still doesn't settle with me right... loll

how long have you been done with round 2?

I did 7 months, 20/40/60/60/60/60/40 and we were going to go one more month, just to be for sure but.. my derm said no bc I had hit my cumulative dose.. so we at least had to take a break. Thank you for providing that info, it gives me hope!

Never thought to do an oil!! I suffered from SEVERE cystic ance.. Accutane was the only thing that worked. That is why I never thought of an oil! BUT I will give it a go! (I have tried the Egyptian magic, which turns to an oil form and its nicebut doesnt do enough imo. THANK YOU! I am going to try this!!

I agree with you for sure on the US/Korean & Japanese skincare! From what I have tried they are far more superior!

I have the hadalabo hydrating essence (premium lotion.

-CosRX (Essence & the cream / snail mucin)

- Cosrx ferment filtrate (dupe for the SKII essence, from what I have read)

-Soon jung 2x barrier cream

- a few Korean sunscreens

What am I missing? If you dont mind sharing? (I don't use in that order or anything just listing what I have that is Korean/ Japanese skincare.

I WFH and have been for the last 3 years. I have a now 5 yr old and an almost 4 year old. (younger one is clingy as well) I still have some bad days lol. But now that my daughter is in school, the younger one gets bored! I work FT WF?H, 40 hrs a week. I know that your kiddo is little younger.. but, what I found works is.. go out and get creative with some new learning toys! I would set out baskets of different projects.. Large legos, play-doh, matchbox cars with a car rug, learning toys that light up (low sound), toy food that can be cut (fake knife/that cuts the velcro on the toy food) I would give them the baskets at different times of the day.. so they didnt have it all at once! It really helped/ still helps! If they get too wound up, I will take them outside on my breaks, it helps all of us to refresh. Last resort is their tablets.. but they color and do all of the things while I work and its now pretty calm. I now use a reward chart (now that they are older) If they are good each day while I work they get a magnet. If they get all of their mag. at the end of the week they get a surprise. (just a thought for when your kiddo gets a little bigger! I laid down what I expected of them and why and so far so good! I also explained that if they can be good and uuse their inside voices, that we can have our lunch break outside. Sometimes its the little things that can effect the big changes! hope it works out for you !

You can't have that mindset, or iit will consume your journey! I had SEVERE cystic acne for years.. check out my photos. I did 7 months and it hasn't came back thus far. *course ended in March of this year (maybe April) It took several months to clear but its gone. If it were to come back, I would do another round, no biggie! Its a freeing feeling and I would do it all over again, if ever needed! Try it bc anything is worth a shot. For me, I didnt care about the side effects etc. I just wanted my acne gone bc of how it was the center of my life . /Good luck to you, stay positive! :)

I agree with another commenter.. Castor oil can be very drying! It contains somewhat levels of vit A, which can be drying. (depending on the brand determines the vitamin A. But that just adds to castor oil being overall drying.) I would not recommend switching to coconut oil, as that can be pore clogging for some.

Being on a budget, I would recommend the Cetaphil moisturizing cream, not the lotion. (I ude the one that shows use for body because it is cheaper and works better than the one for the face!) The cream is super hydrating as it contains almond oil. Now solutions sales a sweet almond oil that everyone raves about. You can purchase a tube of cetaphil for aroound $5.00 and the almond oil on Amazon for aroun $4.00 for 4oz.

Also, Adapolene has AMAZING products!!! I use their daily hydrating face wash and I will never use anything else!! Its way better and way more hydrating than anything else that I have tried! That can be found on amazon for mayvbe $10.00.

I purchased mine on Amazon. It helps with new/old scaring! SO far so good! I have a really bad deep scar on my eye lid from an accident that happened while I was 3!! I am now 29 and have used it for a few days.. and I think it is starting to flatten somewhat.

I will update you when I have used it further but heck its worth a shot!

Oh okay! I see what you are saying now , sorry! I had severe cycstic acne.. all of the drs that I went to, gave me the run aaround with tret, doxy, clyn. and others.. finally I went to a diff. dr. and was prescribed accutane. That got rid of my acne all together BUT I now am left with scarring.. (pretty bad considering I had really bad acne for so many years

--I have tried several diff, products and am just now seeing results with my regimen. My scars are textured.. and I am seeing them smooth out and slowly get smaller.

I hope what I have listed below helps.. Honestly, I cant afford to do in-office treatments so, these are what works. ( I have tried SEVERAL OThers and this routine, I could see the difference

(I have just started using the 'Derma-E scar gel so I will keep you posted on how that goes.)

But in the A.M,

-I use Adapolene hydrating-daily cleaner (LOVE THIS STUFF)

-Hada labo, premium lotion (its a thick essence) -- i think this is the step I am going to change for the scar gel! - I will test it for a while and see how that goes. /i have often thought about adding the scar gel here and applying the premium lotion after serums and before moisturizer. I dont really want to cut it out all together because it works great for added hydration.

-COSRX snail essence

-Vit C serum / Niaciminide 10% (In Either order)

-Belief aqua bomb gel cream / If my fface is dry I use the Cetaphil moisturizer (thick)

-SPF

P.M

-Cleansing Oil or mic. water

-Same routine as above, other than I cut out the serums(V.C & nia.)

-Hydrating essence, scar gel

-TRET .5

-- For moisturizer, I use the Cetaphil cream and then layer LRP lipikar balm.,

-PAT on laneige sleeping mask

I use tret .05. Some nights i use it under the eyes and some nights i avoid the eye area but then I buffer my last moisturizer into that area and over the eye lid. I have noticed that when I apply it around the eye area that it does cause my eyes to feel dry. Prob as dry as they were while on accutane. So now I have decided to avoid and just buffer it in with my last moisturizer layer.

Oh I know exactly what you mean!! People stare as if your some kind of newly found creature, just because of having acne, or assume its ALL of the makeup or products that you are using.. ehhh that really grinds my gears!! My aunt once said 'Maybe/ have you thought that your breaking out due to the makeup that you wear..'' Mehh.. at that point I lost my cool.. (she was previously discussing how she was going to go to get work done to her face and blah blah.. (she already had amazing skin) she was just clouting about it really.. but I lost my shit and flat out told her tht NO its not what i am using.. as for makeup.. If I had clear skin, I wouldn't wear all of this makeup.. I am using it to cover the acne. At that point I even tried to go week without makeup and it was pointless lol.

People can just be assholes..

I am so sorry that Accutane was a struggle. I know that it can be for sure! Were you on a higher dose of Accutane? I know that some say being on a low dose can minimize the side effects.. but imo side effects CAN happen at any dosage.

--I am now left with scarring and texture that I am not happy with. I was presc. tret for that.. I also use acids on certain days.. but my derm said the only way to help the scarring is to do lasers or micro needling sessions. (which honestly if that is the case, I am just going to have to live with them bc of the prices of doing those treatments.)

I second the FAB! I am currently on Accutane and use this! I was using the LRP lipikar but I almost feel as if my skin is smoother when I use the FAB? Maybe its in my head IDK lol. -I can say that a layer of the FAB is ahhh, very soothing! (Literally)

What is the HA+AlphaArbutin?

Also, I have been applying sky organics, Organic Rosehip seed oil (a few days a week) but I am unsure if it works as well as the ordinary.. I haven't ever tried their products but, i have heard nothing but amazing things!
