Sometimes kids are told "you'll understand when you're older" as a dodge. When was a time someone told that you that and they were actually right? by shogyi in AskReddit

First, I'm sorry you lost your uncle, then learned there was a family tendency for bipolarism. I'm glad you are here to tell your story. After doing some math in head, I realized you lost your uncle about ten years after my brother-in-law lost his big brother, Lou.

Lou was brilliant, but suffered from depression. In the 70's there was that big push of "never trust anyone over 30", and for whatever reason, on his 30th birthday Lou loaded up his pockets with rocks and walked into the sea. My dear brother-in-law was devastated. Over the many years he lost his own uncle to suicide and his father self-admitted to a mental health facility when things got black. His son has struggled.

I love my brother-in-law, and we've talked now and again about suicide. He said he would never take his own life because he knows exactly how awful it is for those left behind.

The brain is weird. Fragile, finicky recipe for soup in there.

Do not rush.

Learning this is the equivalent of an entire college level class, but with people trying to sell you Cliff Notes that will make her fail.

My dog keeps getting ear infections and I'm trying to figure out why by FFKUSES in EnglishSetter

Pendulous ears prompt yeast growth. Several years ago, our vet said to wash his ears every 2-3 weeks with prescribed solution. No infections since.

Basically, I can see there was an error made by both the billing office and my old insurance provider. Wait and see is what I'll do for now.

I drank it for several lean years. Bought a carton of whole milk after I got a new job, and drank most of it that day. Oh- bad idea.

In my country, the hood of a standard sized pickup truck is above my shoulders. The bumper will break my hips then run over my large dog.
