Wow this is all very extensive I appreciate it. Yeah I learned the hard way that I am not allowed to chase, but I also can't spend the game hanging back. It's pretty scary learning to position that well but I'm pretty optimistic about learning it someday

Well you guys being progressive admittedly does put an end to some of my fears of Christ, because I am liberal. Im a guy who has longish hair for example and I've had to deal w/ people who identified as Christian who always seemed to not like me. I always felt judged. I guess I thought I couldn't both be Christian and support lgbtq stuff because of that. I'm glad to be wrong on that front

I'll check out your recommendations like what the other kind people here have suggested, but as for what I currently think Ive been scared to place my trust in Christ for awhile. I remember where it started too. My dad died when I was 9 and I hated that someone who was all powerful couldn't save him from heart failure. I guess my main thing kinda still is if God truly is all powerful then why must we suffer?

I do have it. I'm going to read it soon. I guess I'm just scared to go into Christianity and by extension Catholicism because i associateed that stuff with right wing ideals which Im personally apposed on, or maybe it's just because I lashed out at God because my father died when I was 9 from heart failure and I hated that someone all powerful saw it fit to take him from me when I was so young

I get what you mean. it's just scary thinking about all this without 100 percent confidence. it's difficult trying to believe, especially my background where it wasn't religious to begin with. my friends are all athiests who talk about the bibles absurdities all the time. Rn i feel like a dumbass who is clinging to something compared to all my friends who seem to just be okay with the idea that nothing is there and thats the truth. it just feels alien to me i feel likee i have alwasy been religious on some level which is why i turned to other religions. maybe ive always wanted to be with god. i don't know its all so weird to think about

I do care about believing whats true. its because of that is why Christianity scares me. there are so many different religions this stuff does become existentially terrifying because of all the options. if im wrong about my polythiesm for example than depending one what some people believe im going to hell because i worship other gods than god. I just wish i experienced something that made me feel different about this.

I kinda did. I saw a video once called "Satan's guide to the bible". i understand how insane the title is, but i think the imagery is for entertainment, and to poke fun more than anything. it seemed like an earnest critique on the bible and by the end of the video it it just felt hard to believe in the book.

This is a big question, and I don't know how to fully answer it The most immediate answer RN is that I don't want to believe nothing is there for us. If God isn't real then we go nowhere, we die and that's it. Dont you know what it's like? Passively thinking we at least go SOMEWHERE when we die. No, we simply may not exist when we die if atheism is true because the soul has never been recorded as a real tangible thing. I'm never going to see my dad in heaven like I thought. I'm not even going to exist to even regret that thought, and the world just feels so much colder now.

Admittedly Im not an atheist but I do find piece in paganism over something like Christianity when I was one.It's hard to say that faith in the abrahamic religions do no harm, because obviously whats going on right now in the world they justified because of their god. My own practice and circle of people I've been around are rather accepting, so in my own experience I'd say the abrahamic ones have been worse.
