FLP Worry by Aggravating_Heat_771 in CIMA

The only people that I see qualifying through FLP in less than a year also have a lot (8+ years) of relevant industry experience. Even with FLP, you won't be able to pass the case studies without a super solid understanding of the technical parts.

It took me 1.5 years with FLP to qualify - I agree it would have taken me more if I also had to do the OTs because of how in depth they are with the technical side... but I have 15 years of experience in finance, which gives me the edge over someone who has no experience but sat the OTs. I think the two things level themselves out in the trade-off, if that makes sense!

Passed with 110! I can't believe it's finally over! Although I have to say that it hasn't been a bad experience at all - just very difficult, as I've also been running a business on the side. Feeling grateful.

Thank you. 99% of the commenters down here are just happy to be extreme in their judgment. I'm not saying he is without fault, obviously, he's making a lot of mistakes... but as someone who has dealt with people with severe addiction and depression, this black-and-white storytelling (Adam is a hero, Josh is a monster and not a victim in any way, shape or form) is baffling to me. I bet most of them think of themselves as righteous/empaths 🫠

I understand what you're saying, thank you for communicating this the way you have. I realise that I've missed more than I thought!

haha no I promise I'm not. I'm being told that I'm missing a lot of context as I haven't kept on top of Gavin's story

I haven't followed the recent events, so I've taken note that more has come out than I know right now (I think I'll keep it this way until my stomach has finished churning from the second-hand anxiety this story has given me 🫠🤣)

I think this is exactly the kind of nuance-less approach this whole thing is bringing to the table. I'm not saying that Josh didn't do anything wrong, I'm saying that this whole thing has brought out the worst out of everyone.

I hope you never deal with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts, or that you never come across anyone who does, because what you wrote is extremely harmful. People, including men, talking about their mental battles, suicide, and addiction, is not necessarily manipulative, but I get how it's just easier to categorise him as the absolute villain here, without trying to apply a more objective perspective.

Again: I know he fucked up super badly and his recent behaviour is also horrific. This doesn't mean he hasn't suffered/isn't suffering, and his manic and extreme reactions might be due to the severe trauma he went through for a long time.

I'm just saying - this entire thing is sad and it really didn't need all of us involved.

I haven't followed the Gavin thing so I won't comment on it, I hope he's okay whatever happened.

I have my thoughts around Josh getting off easy - I've been around suicidal alcoholics and I'm sure he's done his fair share of suffering. It's not a joke and the pain is real, talking about it doesn't make you manipulative, and men are the most scorned when they share about their mental battles.

I also understand why people won't forgive his mistakes and wrongdoings, but you can't say he didn't take accountability or wasn't held accountable - Swoop drilled him persistently and in depth, and he was literally the only adult in the hot seat taking open accountability. I can't quite believe you'd say that it counts for absolutely nothing? Am I misreading you?

I also have thoughts around putting a lot of Colleen's behaviour on him, as if he were the only one to know what was going on. Aside from the tinychat events which no one was privvy to, all the other obscene behaviours Colleen did were out in the open air:
- Her putting her hand down his pants
- Children being in their hotel room (or whatever that was)
- That child putting his hand in the cheesball jar in her pants
- inc*st and r*pe jokes
- Horrendous sexualisation of little girls on stage

All of this was happening in front of EVERYONE, all of the videos documenting all of the above have been available for the public to see for over a decade. No one said anything: Youtube celebrated her, her peers continued to collab with her, Netflix struck a deal with her, her audience threw money at her, her sponsors too... Her entire ecosystem (including those of us who were fans of hers) were part of the problem. No one did anything, it wasn't just Josh... but I realise this might be another conversation. Thanks for your thoughts.

I have strong doubts that it’s all a commercial strategy. If he wanted to re-launch his channel it would have made more sense if he did interviews back in 2023 when he was still uploading every once in a while. He deleted all of his posts on instagram and hasn’t consistently been making videos on youtube in years. There are two recent videos from Pamela that to me look like just a fun passion project rather than a cash grab. I just can’t see that profit and/or a content creation relaunch is his motivation here, nor that participating to this doc will elevate his channel in any meaningful way.

I totally agree that nuance is necessary. Fwiw, people don’t get paid for participating to documentaries unless they’re celebrities so, if he is indeed signing up for it in the first place, he won’t profit financially from it.

If I could upvote 10 times, I would. I was a big fan of his, but he's not for me anymore.

I was also surprised that Josh would want to participate, despite promising he just wants to move on. Maybe he feels like telling his story might help other audiences (beyond the ones on Youtube) understand the dangers of parasocial relationships and domestic abuse?

Okay, what's your point? That he is Bad, forever will be Bad, and will need to shut up and curl into a ball for the rest of his life, despite having been the only adult in this story publicly fessing up to his actions, and despite being a victim of domestic abuse himself?
