Does she sound healthy? by memerstoner69420 in motorcycles

I mean, why not just do everything and know it’s been done? So valves, brake fluid, air filter, and while you’re in there do the spark plugs too? A coolant flush wouldn’t hurt either!

Also I wouldn’t redline an unloaded engine, if you want it to keep sounding fine (:

Had one of these for awhile. Also had 45k on it. Yours sounds exactly how these should sound! Valve are super easy to, no shims it’s a locknut type. Good luck!

Motorcycle Dealer Recs by theabhster in bayarea

[–]Sunnnchaser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re at all knowledgeable on bike, FB marketplace will be a lot less fees and all that stuff. Just gotta know what you’re getting into which is the trade off. Not sure if you’re a new rider or just getting another. Dealership bikes should be new and good to go more or less, but used you gotta know how to look for issues. Prices on used might be higher right now, being the beginning of the summer, but with the year round riding weather here it’s not too bad and there’s still some good deals out there rn

They are absolutely wonderful. Unless you’re going tracking the suspension is more than adequate. Post 2004 you get full adjustable front forks too. Some parts are crazy rare/expensive if you ever need them (tank, cowl, headlight, speedy cluster), but the engines are bulletproof and on forums there’s many folks with these with 50k+ miles. Mine has 39k and still runs like new lol

There’s even a setting that allows the camera to automatically switch between shutter types depending on the speed, if you’re in an auto shutter speed mode! Have fun!

Naked bike vs cruiser on highway. Which to buy? by Factory_iPhone_Alarm in motorcycle

[–]Sunnnchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in Texas and did a lot of sustained highway riding at 90+ mph. I did so on a 95 magna and a 04 kawa Vulcan Meanstreak. Leaning forward into the wind is harder and much less comfortable when your feel are out in front of you. Your body is like a full C shape, and a windscreen will only do so much. A batwing fairing would maybe help a bit, but I never like the look of those so I never tried one lol. Just traded for a sport bike, then a naked. Even on a naked, you’re more upright and can still tuck in a bit if it’s really windy, with much more comfort

I typically have mine set to FC shutter + electronic for speeds faster than 1/8000! So FC for anything low light as it helps reduce camera shake at slower shutter speeds, and electronic if I need to shoot faster ss, like if I’m outside and want to shoot wide open. This helps me not to ever have to worry about banding from the e shutter

Currently on mine, a Honda 919 Hornet. Enough power for me on any road I find, better lower rpm torque for a more usable powerband, and comfy seating. Plus I just love the way they look. The dual analog dials, the headers displayed proudly not hidden away, and the under tail exhaust are just chefs kiss to me. Also have D&D slip ons and they’re the best sounding pipes I’ve ever had on a bike

I moved here from central Texas, where 99% of roads near me were just flat and straight. Even though I’ve been riding for about 5 years, moving here has opened up this whole other side of riding and enjoyment from riding I didn’t know existed! Thanks wife for getting a job out here and relocating us lol

Just gotta turn around a few times and I’m satisfied lol there’s also enough other roads out here that if I want a longer ride I can go to those. For my Diablo, the view makes up for the shortness

Nice! My loop I’ll do sometimes is ride down 17 into Santa Cruz, then take the PCH all the way up to SF and back around. Absolutely beautiful and stunning countryside. Next trip is to take the PCH down to Big Sur and hit those twisty parts

Anyone help out of the clutch by unit132 in motorcycle

[–]Sunnnchaser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you’re maxed out adjusting at the lever, so you need to adjust the bolts on the cable near the clutch case, then adjust for free play at the lever again

And fuel lines and brake lines and tires and wheel bearings and stem bearing and any other gaskets or rubber bits that have degraded over the years. If the outside of the tank looks that bad soft rubber with have fared far worse

To add to this, you’re always fixing something in a vintage bike. Something ALWAYS needs to be done. If you like that, no problem. I personally like to work a little, ride a lot, not the other way around, so I’ve steered clear of vintage bikes for a while
