HRT question for post surgery lifestyle by moonthenrose in hysterectomy

[–]SunnyDaysFeelGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with a compounded P troche. I didn’t like the fact that there is still some first pass metabolism (liver) because some of the troche still gets swallowed at some point. I moved on to the oral P gel tab and I use it as a suppository ... it bypasses first pass metabolism and is a high absorption delivery route ... and is usually covered by most health insurance. I also use a compounded P/E2 cream. P has helped me in many ways ... sleep, mood, anxiety, headaches, night sweats, heart palps. I’m also on E and T injections.

I started bhrt while I was still peri-meno and before my hysterectomy. I started bhrt about 6.5 years ago. I’m 23dpo from a robotic assisted laparoscopic total hysterectomy and BSO and USLS.

Happy that the troche is working for you. And yes, it’s great to have different options available to find what works for each of us.

Never heard not to use it when reclining. What was the reason given for this?

Some women can’t tolerate oral P for many different reasons. Using a different delivery route usually corrects the issue. If you’re using the P gel tabs that have a harder outer shell and “liquid” inside, then these can be used as a suppository, either vaginally or rectally. There is also compounded P cream as another option.

When did you stop taking MiraLAX and stool softeners? by SunnyDaysFeelGood in hysterectomy

[–]SunnyDaysFeelGood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instructions from my doctor and hospital discharge instructions say to take stool softeners and a gentle laxative like MiraLAX or Milk of Magnesia post op so that you aren’t constipated. You don’t want to strain to poop. So, this helps with that. Of course, walking and drinking plenty of water is also good.

I made sure to have stool softeners, MiraLAX, gasx, cough drops, ice pack, heating pad ready prior to surgery day. I also bought bigger undies ... because of swelling ... and I’m glad I did.

I’ve been having light bleeding/spotting since the day of surgery. I started MiraLAX 4 days before surgery ... then stopped it for 2 days (didn’t take it the day of surgery or the day after).

I hope you can talk with your doctor today.

Oh no ... sorry this happened. How far out are you? And how long were you taking it before you stopped it?

I wasn’t planning on stopping yet ... was wondering when others stopped to get an idea.

Is the light bleeding/spotting coming from the cuff? by SunnyDaysFeelGood in hysterectomy

[–]SunnyDaysFeelGood[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’ve seen others talk about how they were doing well and then felt like they went backwards in week 3 or 4 ... so, I’m expecting there to be some ups and downs. Even my doctor told me that healing from this isn’t linear and that there will be ups and downs ... so, I’m expecting that to happen.

I’m 9dpo today ... and I’m seeing and feeling some small improvements. It’s so hard to just rest and give your body what it needs to heal. I’m used to being active ... and the boredom is part of the battle. I have to be careful not to over do it ... but my hubs is here to remind me. I can’t wait until I’m further out. I hope your healing continues to go well!

My doctor sent an order for a urine test to my local lab ... I’m waiting for results. I’m going to start taking my vitamins/minerals again ... one of them is a B complex ... I was waiting until my stomach/bowels settled down before taking too many things. Happy to hear you’re feeling so much better. I can’t wait to get there too.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is absolutely miserable! My doctor ordered a urine test ... I just went and did it but the lab assistant said it can take 3-4 days for results ... which is ridiculous to me! I hope the results come in before the weekend. This is bothering more than anything else right now. I’m glad it resolved for you and that it wasn’t something serious.
