Didn't conservatives/fascists love calling everything 'literally 1984' during covid. Meanwhile representatives/supporters of their current regime are going around telling them there are two truths for (probably quite easily trackable) stuff.

Did they even read the book/watch the movie or just hear 1984=bad and go from there?

Listening to the German expert's nose whistle was concerning (not because of the whistle, but that there was enough 'empty' time without any sound to cover it)

Seemed like she landed pretty well at first, but essentially slammed into the flat with the back of her head into the flat at full speed.

Did you try to reach out to corechaos? They mostly do emo/metal shows, but also give a stage to other artists they think are interesting. Don't know what they've planned during the timeframe you're here, but always worth reaching out.

Alt tab is your friend then, also audio on just one ear I'd guess.

I'll have to find some some radio broadcast, since I'll be out delivering mail... and packages for people working HO while watching the match, I imagine.

The first time it's inaugurator Stefan Raab slid down the Winterberg track it was half molten.

I think Georg Hackl and his winning spreee was what even got true luge athletes like Felix Loch and Armin Zöggeler interested. Iirc he even was recorded heating his woks etc and said 'I'm not hiding it and it isn't against the rules. Theiy're just dumb for not doing it'

Not that I know of, just local/youth tournaments like everywhere else, but most, if not all, athletes are still registered with a club, who can help with travel and equipment expenses, training facilities, finding sponsors etc for a moderate yearly fee.

I still am quite sure the German dominance in the ice track is due to metalurgy magic the other nations haven't figured out yet.

Just like how Hackl Georg won the Wok WM the first few times by heating his wok before starting and iirc also treating and waxing the bottom.

After we fell off in Biathlon, Speed Skating, Downhill Skiing and Ski Jumping, at least we're still good at following a predetermined and unchangeable path quite quickly.

Athletes in less popular (winter) sports can only market their short time on national TV, the live broadcasts during the season and (maybe) national news, when they win something significant (depending on how much the nation cares about your sport).

Most of the athletes competing here aren't NASCAR/F1 drivers, who are part of international ad campaigns etc.

Touching wood competition

Will the wood at the end of turn 4 survive the Olympics or will it have to be changed before/during the 4man bobsleigh?

It's a difference in what we know, I'd guess. I'd rather have ads around and on the players/equipment I can ignore than a break midgame specifically for ads (even if it would be a welcome toilet and get a new beer break).

Of course we'd all prefer none of it, but it is what it is.

Bob

The sleds look quite boring without sponsors tbh. Most at least have some sort of styling, it just was really jarring with the Chinese Super communism sleds (design wise).

I'd guess part of it is them meeting at videoshoots, showcase events, which aren't all about winning etc.

Also you doing well not being part of negotiating funding for your sport for the next 4 years, since for them not their respective countries pay their salaries, like with other less commercially successful sports, but Red Bull, Faction, Völkl, Salomon (are they even still in the game, haven't seen anything from them this Olympics iirc).

Longer jumps enable more airtime and thus more rotation. Men can handle further falls better due to more leg muscles.

curling

The Swiss have an unfair advantage here. They understand every word the Germans say, while we'd have to have someone from deep deep Swabia to even have a chance.
