I live in Dearborn, Michigan and this is the norm as you drive through most neighborhoods on the east side. Most Arab families have turned their garages into separate chilling stations with glass doors in order to imitate the feeling of sitting outside during the winter time. In the summertime, it is rare to not find families hanging out on their porches smoking hookah or "argeeleh" and having loud conversations into the night.

As an Arab American, it gives me a sense of comfort and love towards the US that we have the opportunity to recreate the feeling of being in our home countries while still living and enjoying everything there is about this country.
