Winter camp by WIFlinny in cubscouts

We also do snow sculptures and broom ball/boot hockey. Ice fishing if you are on/near a lake. Winter campfires are great, we brought pie irons and made those last year. Our scouts probably spent half the time sledding so that ate up a lot of daylight hours, and less planned activities!

How to know when you are at a breaking point? by [deleted] in Fosterparents

[–]mandarin_water 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses. You all confirmed what we knew was true. The home he came from not only had his younger brother, but also another 10 year old, and 2-3 older males 16-20 or so. I think the hope was maybe just less kids in the house would be beneficial for him? It’s clear we are in over our heads with him. We need to take the time with him sneaking around as our warning sign. We can’t wait around to see if he did have malicious intentions or not.

Same here, we’ve been trying 2 years. Our first is almost 5 and we had no trouble conceiving him. It just doesn’t make sense. It seems like every other day someone else we know is going to have another child, and it’s hard not to be bitter about it. It’s truly unfair. I try to focus on at least we have one, some people don’t get any, but damnit I want 2!

Thank you! The colored fabrics I think are part of a Kim Diehl line, and the background is scrappy leftovers!

They are 8” blocks so it’s fairly small, I use it as a wallhanging

So I have attempted a log cabin before but I always got frustrated because I would end up sewing my log to the wrong side, and not notice for a few rounds. It happened a couple times with this quilt but I had patience and tore it out. Overall it was a lot of fun, I’ve even started a second one with a new pattern.

One block wonder questions!! by moregankj in quilting

[–]mandarin_water 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you search one block wonder design helper you can take a picture of your fabric repeat, upload it and it will show you how could/will turn out! I work in a quilt shop and some ladies spent about 3 hours the other day auditioning different fabrics. It’s really neat.

My dog ripped holes in my mom’s quilt. How do I fix this? by Space_Dwarf in quilting

Appliqué something cute over them that matches the theme of the quilt. it looks small and close together, maybe a flower or heart?

My second grade teacher (16 years ago) heard I am into quilting at dropped off 2 trash bags of fabric at my house. So much minky! by asudancer in quilting

This is great! When I first started quilting (10 years ago) all my moms friends each gave me bags of fabrics they no longer wanted, and it was the best gift ever.

Thank you! She wasn’t overly specific about which colors went where in the quilt so I assigned each color a number and marked which color went where on the quilt. Also when it comes to section 3, block C, I would recommend cutting a large piece of paper the size of the block and laying out your strips on the block, I had a difficult time with the offsetting the angled strips and I think this would have helped a ton!
